Trouble connecting to Exchange with Droid 3

2011-07-13, 0:16 AM

I'm having trouble connecting to my company's Exchange server with my new Droid 3. I've upgraded from the original Droid, which had no problems connecting. I noticed one difference between the old email app on the Droid and new one on the Droid 3 is that the original app had a setting to "Allow all certificates". My company authorizes our own certificates, and I wonder if my problem might be related to that. I have exported my certificate from my desktop computer and installed it on the Droid 3, but that doesn't seem to have had any effect.

When I attempt to set up my email account via Corporate Sync, I get an error: "Could not connect to server". The server is running, and everything else can connect to it fine.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I have (hopefully temporarily) installed Touchdown to access my work account, but I'd rather not have to pay for a feature that I should already have.

Thanks.

can you try the free trial of Touchdown or Moxier Mail to see if either work for you?

I've already installed the free trial of Touchdown and it's working fine.

I am having this same issue. Touch down works for me. Activce sync works, as does prior versions of Android, BIS, etc on the server.

On the prior Droid, in the setup screen for corporate sync there was an option to "accept all certificates" after the option to always use a SSL connection. On my setup screen, there is no option to accept all certificates....

Please help!

Hello Matt....when setting up your Corp account on Droid 3 the certificate setting isn't visible in the initial screen however, "Use a secure connection" and "Verify Certificate" is automatically enabled and listed under account upon setup. Try ignoring error, then go into account settings and uncheck "Verify Certificates".

Hope this helps,

Tarnisha

How do I get to account settings if the account is never actually created? The error I get is that it cannot connect to the server, and when I dismiss the error, I go straight back to the accout creation screen (the one titled "Enter your existing Corporate Sync account").

Thanks Matt...Pertaining to connection errors: certain policies are supported and others may conflict with connectivity when adding your Corp account.  Please check with your Exchange admin to ensure the following policies are enabled if "Allow non-provisional devices" is unchecked.  They can be found at the link below:

Let me know if this helped,

Tarnisha

Tarnisha,

In my situation, non-provisioned devices are OK. It's the cert. that's the issue.

How do you create the account so you can do like you said and "Try ignoring error, then go into account settings and uncheck "Verify Certificates"? It won't let us create the account so we can ignore the error...

Thanks,

Tom
