Re: Trouble connecting to Exchange with Droid 3

Any chance there's a workaround where we can create the account, and then deal with the server issues? Please help!

I have a request in to my IT team to check on the settings of the Exchange server as listed in the link provided. I'll let you know as soon as I hear back.

From asking around the office, we are using a variety of phones, including several Android phones, to connect with no problems, but I'm the only one with a Droid 3 (so far).

Verify certificates is automatically set when setting up the account. You won't see that option until the account is actual listed and then able to go into account settings. If you are unable to even add the account, a third-party app would be a possible work-around until your issue is completely addressed. Touchdown has been reported to be a successful alternative.

Good to know it just wasn't me. Have never tried touchdown. Will give it a try. I ended up just saving a copy of the web access page and checked it throughout the day.

Sadly, I'm in the same boat as the rest of you.  I got my Droid 3 yesterday.  I've been happily using my iPad with my university's exchange server, and my earlier Droid 2 Global (which I wound up returning) sync'ed fine with exchange.  However, when I try to set up exchange with my D3, it tells me "exchange server not found."  I then downloaded touchdown.  It took about 30 seconds to work, and is now singing along doing everything well.  So, the problem appears to be on Motorola's end.

I should acknowledge that the setup at my university is a little funky. We use Novell Groupwise which has it's own strange exchange-type interface.  its functioned fine with every other device I've used beside the Droid 3, but it is still unusual.

Day 3 and touchdown is still working, corp sync still does not. Is there a way to get into and edit the properties of corporate sync so that it does not by default verify the certificate?

In regard to having the IT team check the Active Sync settings (post #8), I have done so, they have verified that everything is as stated in the link, and I still can't connect to our Exchange server.

Re: Trouble connecting to Exchange with Droid 3

Hello, I also have a DROID 3 and I have the same issues as everyone else. I am an IT consultant and Exchange administrator. And the DROID 3 will not work with a self signed cert. Since Motorola did not give us a way to ignore or accept self signed certificates there is no way to create a new corp account so that you can then disable the cert checking. So the "fix" of creating an account then disabling the cert check will not work since we cannot create the account in the first place. I have used touchdown just fine, but until Motorola gives us a way to use self signed certs I do not see a way around this problem. This is a pretty big over site on Motorola's part...

Only thing that might be worth trying is using IE goto your OWA(Outlook web access) website. From there you can import your self signed cert. You can then use the certificates MMC to export out the cert to a .cer file. If you then put the file on a micro SD card. Put the card in the phone then use the certificate manager on the phone to import the cert into the phones trusted cert store. (a quicker way is to just ask your IT person for a copy of the self signed cert and install it on the phone). Sounds like a pain because it is. Motorola please fix this asap.

Guys, just to let you know that we (Motorola) are aware of the issue and are working on it.  It does appear to affect servers that have a self issued certificates. More on this later.

I imported my certificate onto my phone using a similar method - it was one of the first things I tried.  But it made no difference, I still got the same error while trying to connect.
