Re: D4 ICS waiting room

Thanks for the tip, Matt -- I'm registered and ready to go :)  I hope hope hope hope that this will kick in before the end of the month ... My boss is going global and needs that functionality (one of the reasons I was able to convince him to get our office the D4 in the first place!)

Does anyone know...when you dial *#06# to display your MEID, the result only displays  a 14 digit number versus going to Settings>About Phone>Status and the number displayed in the IMEI being 15 digits?

I don't think it should, however your best bet would probably be to just take the SD card out during the upgrade when it happens.

I think the difference between the 14 and 15 digit MEID is something to do with the LTE radios

plus, there are other reasons. i think the d4 is a lot more durable than most other phones. i mean mine got run over by a car with minimal damage and not a scratch on the screen

I agree with you Paco.  The D4 is one heck of a durable phone.  Lest we forget, it also has the nano thickness conformal (water resistant) coating on all of the internal components of the phone, perhaps with the exception of the processor, the same as the RAZR.     --- Dan

In spite of great personal effort, I just can't help but ask... Are we there yet?

The last digit is a check digit and while part of the imei, it isn't included in radio communications.  This seems to confuse pretty much everyone including the vast majority of employees within a major US carrier whose systems don't include/exclude the check digit consistantly.

The details are outlined within 3GPP IMEI specifications but I'd reccomend Wikipedia's IMEI article for a more understandable overview if you are interested.

Matt, does opting into the Feedback Network automatically get you in the soak test rotation or is it first come first served?

More specifically, is there anything we can do once opted in to ensure and/or expedite our participation?

I'm open to anything from asking nicely to donning an ice cream sandwich costume and running non-stop (regular droid 4 recharge stops don't count) to the home of Dennis Woodside where I will join with my fellow enthusiasts to sing uplifting software release songs, sleep on the ground, and not shower for days at a time.

Maybe something towards the asking nicely end of the spectrum?  The foam rubber ICS suit can get pretty hot and sweaty in the summer.

other than being a forum member in good standing, which means if you haven't had posts reported you should be good. but that only helps your chances. there's nothing really that can ensure your being included
