Re: High pitch noise

I'm hearing a high pitch noise when listening to any media (streaming music, youtube, podcasts...) through my headphones. Thought maybe it was a headphone issue but I tried a few different sets. Even picked up a cheap pair of earbuds at radio shack, still get that high pitch. Anyone else noticing this?

Hello jdubs.  Did this problem exist from the time of purchase or did it begin at some point later (minutes, hours, etc.)?     --- Dan

Hey Dan,

Let's say about an hour passed from the time of purchase to when I started listening to music on the pbone.

Ok, thank you, that makes me assume it was there from the beginning, just not discovered.  I recommend you put your phone into safe mode after you have performed the obligatory battery pull just to make sure there's no volatile file remnants that could be affecting the OS.  I have not seen the "how to" on safe mode on the Bionic, but I think it would be the same as the Droid X, if not, I'll dig deeper.  I've read the entire user's manual, there is no reference to safe mode.    --- Dan

Didn't have any luck getting it into safe mode, but through my attempts I did continue to hear the noise through my earbuds when powering on and off. It's so brief. It's there when a notification ringtone goes off too.

I'm noticing the same issue here. It's not terrible but it is troublesome. I can hear it click off after of few seconds of closing out any media app. Seems like its an issue with powering up the headjack.

Re: High pitch noise

I'm having the same problem, which is currently the only deal-breaking problem I'm having.  I really like the phone otherwise, but sadly it will probably be going back for refund to Verizon before my 14 days are up.   I have been waiting for this phone a long time, to replace my awful BB, so I am quite upset that this fly in the ointment has ruined the Bionic.   Dang!

Re: High pitch noise

I had a huge feedback/whine when listening to Pandora. Everything was fine until i got a notification and the whine just about blew out the PC speakers. I couldn't hear the music at all.

In addition, I find that the headphone jack itself is flaky at best. About 50% of the time when have a 3.5mm cable in there it just doesn't work. I tried 3 different cables (they were plugged into my PC speakers). The only 3.5mm cable that worked consistently was the ipod earphones...go figure.

Re: High pitch noise

I also have this problem.  Somebody in another Driod Bionic forum is claiming he took his headphones to a Verizon store where every phone he plugged into had this noise.  He then went to another store and had the same results.  This sounds like a widespread problem...possibly impacting every device, but only so obvious to those who are using headphones?

I am hoping Motorola has something to say about this soon.  Also know I will have no choice but to return it. Verizon is forcing my hand because of their revised 14 day return policy.  I have no intention of finding out whether or not this is a permanent problem on day 15.

Re: High pitch noise

Looks like it's in the device. This other forum with the same thread was just brought to my attention.

I don't know if the solution is having to get bluetooth headphones or wait for motorola to address this. I'd rather not have to return the phone but if it comes to that...
