updates for Droid Maxx2

2019-01-12, 23:53 PM

Why can't Droid Maxx 2 owners receive anymore updates. I realize this is an older phone but it is as good as the new ones. Please allow updates

I have a perfectly good DROID MAXX that is slowly dying, not because the hardware is failing, but because of lack of support to accommodate a more recent Android operating system. I understand this is a cost issue for a company that sells new phones not wanting to spend money helping customers retain an older working model. Lenovo should consider the cost in customer good will in addition to the cost to the environment - if it cares about either. Tossing a perfectly good phone that can't update its OS or apps just seems so wrong. The pace of planned OBSOLESCENCE is crazy.

Hi Happypants,

I'm sorry you feel that way. Unfortunately, the phone will not have any software updates. This is not limited to our phones as other manufacturers has also set limitation with software upgrade plans for their devices. As for the apps, we don't have control over it. It would depend on the developers if they will support it with older Android versions. Please let me know if I can further assist you. Thanks.

Best regards,
