Android File Transfer on Mac not detecting

2012-10-25, 16:01 PM

When I plug in my Droid Razr Maxx HD to my MacBook Pro, the Android File Transfer program doesn't detect the internal storage.  If I switch to mass storage, the MicroSD is detected and mounted. AFT works just fine with my Nexus 7 (running Jelly Bean) launching automatically as soon as I plug it in so it's not an issue of the cable, app or computer. If I plug the phone into a windows machine it is detected and mounts. Any thoughts?

Do you have USB debugging enabled? If so, you must disabled it.

When AFT loads, are you only seeing the "SDCard" option, or when you click on "Internal" you just get nothing?

What USB mode are you in? It should be MTP

Let's start with those. I use AFT and it works beautifully. MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion

That was the ticket. USB degugging off, phone detected. Thanks!

Happy to be of service. I nearly pulled my hair out over that one the first time...

Enjoy your HD!

loving it so far.  I appreciate that Google provided the ability to go in and disable Verizon bloatware on ICS, although I'd rather have the option to uninstall completely

I cannot get my macbook pro running mountain lion x to recognize my droid razr maxx hd.  Debugging is off, the first time I used it I transfered music to the sd card, and then it just stopped and I haven't gotten my laptop to recognize it since.

Hello hoojtoons,

Are you using the Android File Transfer software for Mac and if so, have you tried reinstalling it? Here is the URL: http://www.android.com/filetransfer/

If your Droid Razr Maxx HD is connected via WiFi locally, another option is transferring files using the (free) app "WiFi File Explorer" from your Droid Razr Maxx HD? The app allows you to access your Android device using any other device (such as a Mac or PC) using a browser.

@Doc  Have you been able to get "Wi-Fi File Explorer" to work from your MAXX HD running Jelly Bean?     --- Dan

I tried the paid wifi transfer this morning and couldn't get it to delete anything, so I got rid of it.  I reinstaled AFT, and went to using it again.  I want to be able to have my music in order by albums and shows, not in alphabetical order.  Plus deleting with the AFT, instead of being able to mass delete you have to delete one at a time, or erase the SD card.  That didn't hurt much since the card is brand new, and only had one bug report stored on it.

Hi again!

I just updated my MacBookPro 13, late 2011, to Mavericks and the Android File Transfer no longer "sees" my Droid Razr Maxx HD. It worked FINE with Mountain Lion right up to when I upgraded, but now I can't access the Razr files.  Is there an update pending to AFT? PLEASE????  If so, where would I access it?

BTW, the USB connection is fine on my Win7 PC, but I use my MBP for professional photo processing.
