Can't download apps from Play Store using 4g

2013-06-04, 21:44 PM
My Droid RAZR Max HD cannot download apps from the Play Store using my Mobile Network, but works fine with my WiFi. I have done all the recommend fixes for this such as clear cache partition, clear cache of Play Store, and some others.

EXTRA: I also can't download pictures or PDF files on Google Chrome too. Everything works fine when I'm on my WiFi but not on my mobile network.

Have anyone else had this problem its really frustrating me when I can't download things.

There use to be a setting to download apps only over wifi. I looked, but don't see that setting anymore. I looked in the Data management settings as well and couldn't find anything there.

Maybe you can try to Clear data in Google Play Store in Settings>Apps>All. Maybe resetting it will reset any setting that is preventing you from downloading apps on 4G. Hope this helps.

There is a setting in the Play store menu to auto-update only over wifi.  Maybe that's checked?

I've tried those before. I've made sure everything is unchecked. I cleared the data for Google Play Store twice. Google play store won't even update itself when I am on my Mobile Network unless I am on the WiFi. This started like a week ago, since I am traveling right now it is really bothering me since I am on the move.

How does this work while in Safe mode?

Do you have any SmartActions set?

I made sure will SmartActions were deleted. I've never tried Safe mode or even know how to get to it.

OK, I think I figured out the problem. Go to Settings>Data usage. Now, scroll down through the list and find the following apps  (if they are listed): Google Play Store, Media and Google Services. Tap on each one and scroll to the bottom and make sure that "Retrict background data" is not checked.

I have a feeling that Media is the culprit. Hope this helps.

Long press the Power button, long press the Power off and finally tap OK. The phone will reboot into safe mode.

I suggest you try my last suggestion before this, though. Hope this helps.

Media was checked somehow. But, Thanks my phone can now download apps and updates. Yeah, I went through my data usage as suggested and going through some of them making sure none them were actually affecting it and came upon Media and sure enough it was checked. Major thanks!!!
