Re: My Motospeak v3.0.57 voice recognition fail

2013-12-26, 15:37 PM

Same exact issue. same time frame. same phone:( I've tried uninstalling mymotospeak, and unpairing with my roaster 2. Nothing makes texting work.  She still understands voice commands and voice dialing, but can't understand a text message. I get the same exact prompting, initially "say your message" then "try again?" then just gives up on me.  Used to work pretty much perfectly.  Wondering if it's worth upgrading my phone at this point since I'm eligible.  Anyone know if this problem is happening with other phones?

According to recent reviews written on the Play Store, this issue affects the app regardless of which phone you have.  There are quite a few reviews written since 12/22, from different phone models, all saying that "worked great until recently, now the app does not recognize my voice, etc. etc."  I bought my wife a HX550 headset as a gift, set it up this morning and having the same issue.  It's not just an issue with the Roadster...seems to be tied to the app.  Hopefully an update will be released soon.

Same problem.... Droid 4. I have tried uninstalls, clearing various caches, and uninstalling updates to a lot of the Google bloat ware  with no luck.  I hope Moto and Google can team up and take care of this soon. Thus far I have not been able to locate the old Motospeak versions Does anyone have a link?

If you go to the Motorola support page for the My Motospeak app, there is a link to install an older version.  It points you right back to this forum to a thread started by ForumsMark back in 2011.  My Motospeak version 2.5.39 is there as a download.  I don't know if the files are still available for download since that was two years ago & don't know if that version will work or not.  I have though about trying it....just have not had time.

There are a few newer threads about this issue on the acessssory forums (headsets, navigation devices, etc).  Folks using non-Moto phones report that they receive a network error when trying to dictate a text message with My Motospeak.  I have a theory & maybe someone that knows more than me can back it up.  Is it possible that the voice recognition software to dictate a text message is not part of the app and is on a Moto server somewhere?  Maybe the voice to text function is performed on a server and sent back to the phone via the network?  Maybe the issue is at the server (s) performing this function, since no one remembers installing any new updates to the app?  The app just seemed to stop working last week.  It's just a theory.

I just went to the other thread and installed Motospeak version 2.5.39.  The application immediately fails on my version of Android 4.1.2.

It installs as "Motospeak" and does not replace "My Motospeak", but rather installs along side it.  So for me, this version will not resolve my issue.

I have also not heard back from tech support level 2 about the issue.  I will call again and post an update here.

Thanks for the update...now I know not to try it.  I was wondering if a version that old would still work, and you answered that question.  Thanks for spreading the news & updates.

The same issue started for me last week 12/20. Yesterday I tested on a Droid 4 (4.2) and Droid X (2.3). The Droid X repeats to say the message and fails, the Droid 4 immediately flashes a screen message the there is a network error. I started out using the app with a new Roadster that I bought a year ago. Now I use it with my Chevy Silverado bluetooth connection. Regardless of the device or phone, it's the same.

I'll keep an eye out for any updates.
