Re: My Motospeak v3.0.57 voice recognition fail

2014-01-10, 10:05 AM

After trying several apps I have seen network failures in many of them so I have just contacted Android direct and brought this to their attention wondering if the problem is actually Android and not the app manufacturers.

Already I learned something about the HiWay app...

From the FAQs on the website:

How much does Hi!Way cost?

Hi!Way is available as a FREE trial.

We are keeping the pricing under wraps for now, however we will eventually charge for the commercial version – so enjoy using Hi!Way for free while it lasts!

WTH!!??!!? We'll let you get hooked and then we'll set the line! What I rip! I can see this app is not going to have a long life on my phone....

Also having a problem registering the app to use. Network error...   uh, oh...

John, as noted by previous post... I too would "prefer" a fee app (as was My Motospeak).  But, IF I COULD FIND AN APP THAT PERFORMED IN "EXACTLY" THE SAME AS THE MMS APP, I would consider a reasonable fee.  How much is/was the HI!WAY app?  (And of course assuming that the registration/"network error" issues could be worked-out...

Contrary to the majority of posts on this thread, MY issues began after an update on 12/6.

From what I can tell/see, it WASN'T an update FROM Motorola/MyMotospeak (still using the April 2013 update).  But I honestly don't remember if the update in question was an ANDROID, or a SAMSUNG (Galaxy S3), or a Sprint (my carrier) update... just only know that it was NOT a Motorola/MMS update!

PLEASE let us know if "Android" replies.  (Although, even if they do, I suspect that fixing the app will still fall on the shoulders of the Motorola developers...)

There may be some good news from Motorola.  I finally got through to Tier 2 support today, took about an hour.  The gentleman I spoke to was very professional & helpful.  He said, after talking to product development for about 10 minutes, this is a known issue with the app / software & they are working on it.  He repeated that they know about it and are trying to fix it.  There might be a fix for this soon.

After an exaustive search I have found this tidbit " any app using auto reply voice to text has network failure" it appears that the culprit is actually android themselves and this was due to the last push update in mid to late December.

It was buried deep within the Android Open Source Project - Issue Tracker
which is primarily a android developer website.

Then we can all hope that the Motorola developers ALSO know of this (Android) site... and ARE (actually) working towards a resolution. <fingers-crossed>

I can confirm my Galaxy S4 started having this problem around mid/late December, using S Voice. I disabled that and installed Motospeak....same symptoms. Verizon told me to do factory reset....but I like the explanation of an Android update causing this. Hope it's fixed soon....
