I can confirm my Galaxy S4 started having this problem around mid/late December, using S Voice. I disabled that and installed Motospeak....same symptoms. Verizon told me to do factory reset....but I like the explanation of an Android update causing this. Hope it's fixed soon....

A factory reset more than likely will not help.  I had to do one last night, because of another issue, and when I re-installed My Motospeak & paired with my BT...still the same.  Works great for reading texts & making calls, just not responding to texts.

I've asked Samsung when a fix will be coming to the S4.

Re: My Motospeak v3.0.57 voice recognition fail

Was going to pull the trigger on a different BT earpiece (Blueant Q3) because IT is supposed to have - as near as I can tell - all the functionality of My Motospeak in the Q3 phone app... but noticed that My Motospeak HAS COME OUT WITH AN UPDATE!!!  New version is dated 1/13.

I just tried it (Motorola HX550/Galaxy S3) and it works... for the most part.  I can receive/place calls, and it will read texts to me (YEA!), but the reply-to-a-text response isn't working.

It understands "Text <person name>" and replies with "Opening text message" and "Say your message".  After stating the message, it STARTS TO SAY "Working" (like it used to), but only manages to say "Work...", and then goes back to "Say your message", again, and again...

I can hope that the developers follow these threads and will address THIS FUNCTION soon... but even if not, I could live with it.

Just wanted to let everybody know!

Bob

All-

I just checked the Play store and while there is an update dated 1/13/2014, it is still referring to version 3.0.57.  So I will be interested in anyone who installs this "update" to check the actual version and post to this forum.

Also, I have talked with someone at Motorola about this issue and I was told that KitKat has a similar problem.  So, a new theory may be that this is in fact a problem with Android and the update to JellyBean that came out sometime in 4Q 2013.

It will be helpful for anyone posting on this topic to include your Android version, Build number and the version of My Motospeak.

Thanks,

J.Carpenter

Even though the app date in the Play Store changed, this does not seem like an app "update."  In the My Apps section of my phone, My Motospeak is still listed as "Up To Date."  So, I don't know how we would update the app.  As jcarpenter said, My Motospeak is still 3.0.57, even though the date has changed.  I take this as a good sign, but it does not seem like there is a true "update" yet.  Motorola told me that they would e-mail me closure to my Help Ticket & I have not heard anything from them, yet.  Maybe an uninstall & fresh install is the key to this new update?  Or, they just have not published the actual "updated app" yet, bu only changed the date on the Play Store?

I am using a Razr M.  Android 4.1.2, system version 98.30.1.XT907 and my wife has 98.18.94.XT907.  HX550 BT headset.

My phone also shows My Motospeak up to date. I doubt it was caused by an update to Jelly Bean as my phone is Android 2.2.2

For what it's worth... I downloaded the "new" MMS app.  Same issues.  Don't understand why they would "update" the DATE, but the same version is still out there.  I've deleted it already, but am sure that it's still the 3.0.57 like everyone else's.

Re: My Motospeak v3.0.57 voice recognition fail

I had the unfortunate experience of trying to talk to Samsung support first via Live Chat ( totally a waste of time ) and then on the phone. I got the sense that English was not the first language of either rep. To say it was an exercise in futility is such an understatement. I was trying to find out if in fact they were working on a fix or had been in touch with Android to sort this issue out. I failed on all fronts.

The Live chat guy tried to say it was a compatibility  issue. NO I said it has worked seamlessly for 2 years till Dec 22nd so how can that be?

The phone rep after over 15 mins was still trying to spell my name and get my model number. I gave up.

Telus tech support is aware of all this and tells me if it's this widespread to trust they know and will be working on it pronto. HA

Apparently there was a system wide issue with I Phone last year and it was about a month to 6 weeks before it got fixed. So to just be patient and stand by. Well patience is a virtue found seldom in men and never in women........... so,.....so much for that.

I am waiting for someone to tell me it's fixed now. It's not a motospeak issue or app issue, it's not a Samsung issue or any provider issue I suspect it's Android platform based and we have to pray they really are doing something about it all.

As " they " say............ Lord give me patience cause if you gave me strength I would beat someone to death

Chris

Another concern...

As "we" all focus and hope that the Motorola developers fix our much-loved My Motospeak app... according to the Motorola website itself, it will no longer be supported!  It has been classified as a "SUNSET" app:

https://forums.motorola.com/groups/56c5cefda7/summary

So, I can only assume that Motorola is NOT going to put a lot of effort into this... or if they do, the next update might be the last...  <big sigh>

That reads like we should expect all the beloved functionality trying to be integrated into "OK Google". Not that it would be a bad idea. There just needs to be some effort put into making "OK Google" more touch free and user friendly.
