I'm using AVG, the only thing I don't like is after updating an app, it does hang a bit while "checking" the app.  Otherwise, no issues.

Interesting.  Are you folks who use Lookout or Avast seeing what huff825 has described about AVG?

I have never seen Lookout hang on either of my devices, but keep in mind that we see these differences in app behavior all the time. What I tend to look at in the reviews are the numbers because they tell me how often things go wrong. There will always be some percentage of poor reviews that are due to user error, and the rest due to either the app itself or some settings, apps, or usage patterns on that particular phone.

I have used and continue to use Lookout on my Droid Razr > Droid Razr Maxx > Razr Maxx HD from Gingerbread thru ICS and now JB.

I like the available functions in the free version - have had trouble free operation and I'm comfortable with the way it works.

Thanks to the OP for the original links and also the links to several good reviews on the Android security app. spectrum. yesyes

This kind of material is why I come here - that and the senses of humor that manifest around here too wink.

I have been using AVG for about 6 months. Not obtrusive in any way, has the "Anti-Theft" feature, but don't use. Never leave phone laying around anywhere except home so don't really need it. Have tried a couple of others, but always back to AVG - no particular reason. Just seem to like the way it works with the phone (notifications, etc...).

I've been using "AVG" for many years on my PC's and it was only natural (to me) to test it and use it on my phones.  I really like AVG and the developers are really improving the product by leaps and bounds for our phones.     --- Dan

I Downloaded Trustgo This Morning Only To Discover That I Had Already Tried And Abandoned It The App Itself Seems Slow Compared To The Others. So I Uninstalled It Again.

And I Don't Have A Clue Why Swype Is Capitalizing Every Word (I Know It's A Virus!)

Normally a virus is far more harmful to our phone's than something like forcing a capslock key on.  You might consider doing these three troublshooting steps:

  1. Perform a forced reboot on your phone by concurrently depressing the volume down button and the power off button until your phone reboots.

  2. Clear your third party application cache files by downloading and installing/using "App Cache Cleaner".  It will not harm your phone or your data.

  3. If you are still having the problem, go into settings > apps > all > scroll down to "Swype" and tap on "clear data", back out back to the main menu and reboot your phone and then test for proper function.     --- Dan
