Droid Turbo, Moto X, or Nexus 6?

2014-11-26, 20:10 PM
Almost time for an upgrade. Trying to decide between 3 phones. Droid Turbo, Moto X, or Nexus 6 (if Verizon ever releases it)? What do you think? Pros and cons for each?

There are a few articles already out there that compare the devices (as well as videos), as I'm not sure that this forum is meant for such discussions;

I've read and seen most of those. My intention was to get the opinion of fellow ultra/maxx users. Some of whom have already moved to one of these devices. I have really enjoyed my maxx and am looking towards my next Motorola device so I thought this was the perfect place to discuss it. Thanks for your opinion though.

I am in the same boat. Coming from the Maxx, I have ruled out the Moto X -- I need a bigger battery. For me it is between Turbo and Nexus. I have looked at the Note 4 a few times as well, but cannot get past Touch Wiz plus it is an extra $50 to get the wireless charging back. I also have no interest in being sucked into Samsung's ecosystem.

I will likely wait for the Nexus, because I want the bigger screen. I played with one (finally) in an ATT store yesterday and everything about the phone was amazing. Its only flaw is availability -- no idea when we will see it on Verizon. The Turbo is really nice, I particularly like the blue one at Best Buy. Who knows, if we don't hear something about the Nexus soon, I may just go that direction.

I think they are all great devices, and all have a lot of "pros" and no "con's". It really comes down to which one feels best in your hand {s} and feels like it will fill your needs. Some people want the bigger phone and screen of the Nexus, some want the bigger battery on the Turbo, some want the curved back and in hand comfort of the X. It's a tough choice, they are all awesome.

All valid points which come to the same conclusions myself and most others have arrived at.  I, personally, am stuck between the Nexus and Turbo for the same reasons.  Just need to take the time out of my day to visit Verizon and play with them.  I have 6 months to decide.  By then there will be a new phone to mess me up. ;). Coming from the QA world of computer manufacturers... What is new today, is 6 months old.  We're always perpetually behind.

That's where I am. I'm leaving towards the Nexus because I've wanted one for a while but I've been waiting for a Moto Nexus. I haven't seen one in person yet. I've had the chance to play around with a turbo and I liked it. It's basically a newer Maxx. My daughter has a 2013 Moto X and I like that as well. The only thing that concerns me about the Nexus is the size and battery life.

I'm happy with my Maxx and still have 9 months on contract (August).  If I had to choose today I think it would be the Turbo over the Nexus because of the size factor.  I'm patiently waiting because I feel that even better things will be available when the contract time runs out!

All of these new phones make tougher decisions for us, as consumers.  But how awesome is this for Motorola?  smiley  It's pretty cool that Motorola has three awesome new phones (even more if you factor in the new Moto G & Moto Maxx) that we can discuss and try to decide which one fits our needs the best.  What a great time to be a Motorola phone owner.  Good job Moto!  Keep cranking out great phones!

Re: Droid Turbo, Moto X, or Nexus 6?

I can't justify spending $600 for the Turbo or Nexus 6 with the Droid Maxx running so well for me. It still does everything I need. If I had to choose between those two, it'd be an easy choice. I debated about the Maxx last year because I thought it was too big. I know the Nexus 6 is too big, almost ridiculously so for what I need. So, it'd be between the Turbo or the X, and probably the Turbo for the battery (though the faster updates to the X would be tempting as well - I was so frustrated over those annoying bugs with 4.4 on the Maxx that took 6 months to get fixed [double home bug, which I could live with but I still found annoying, and the loss of connectivity to Google accounts when I went into no signal areas, which was a pain in the neck].)
