Gboard not working

Unable to unlock and use phone. Keyboard will not load to unlock phone. Have tried shutting off and restarting, but won't work.

Thanks for reporting. We are aware of this impacting multiple Android devices and OEMs and Google already patches an update for Gboard on Google Play Store. Using the same Google account, you may try updating Gboard through your PC, kindly open this link. Otherwise, if your phone is encrypted with PIN/Password, you will have to perform an external reset. See here for more information and instruction.

Thanks for reporting. We've seen reports on this on other Android devices and OEMs and Google already patches an update for Gboard on Google Play Store. Using the same Google account, you may try updating Gboard through your PC, kindly open this link. Otherwise, if your phone is encrypted with PIN/Password, you will have to perform an external reset. Hi Rich. Thanks for getting back.  Tried both links. First did not work (phone is password protected.) So I tried second link for reset for turbo2. My phone is a plain turbo XT1254.

Forced start did not work. Factory reset makes reference to a waffle(?) symbol I do not have. Am i correct in thinking that I won't be able to backup before reset and will lose my data?

Hi Marisol7,

 

I was searching for a workaround. Other users suggested connecting the phone to a PC via USB cable and select "transfer file", that made the Gboard reappear on the screen. Resetting the phone to factory default settings would definitely delete all your data, that's the last resort to try for this. Let me know if that helps. Thanks.

Same thing happened to me on the same date yesterday, I have a lenovo yoga less than a year old a bit peeved off and disappointed. I cannot get in at all tried what was suggested above as well. What to do?????

It worked. Using old usb keyboard with adapter. Removed password now working on Gboard update.
