Nice to hear some positive feedback on this forum for once!  The download took 25 mins and now it's optimizing apps.  Total time for upgrade will probably run about 40 mins or so, for all those who are wondering. I remember 5.0 on my Moto X not playing well initially with active display notifications and duplicating them.  The new OS has their own version. I still prefer Moto's b/c you don't see details, just icons and uses less power than the full color Android notifications.

Install went without a hitch. Apps do need to update after the OS is installed so be prepared for all that.  Everything working well so far. I think camera app launches and shoots faster.  Could just be due to the new runtime. First time I tried to start flashlight with the chop, it launched the camera.  I think I got it right now--don't twist the phone at all to launch the flashlight.  Hope all the other weird bugs that others experienced are quashed. Only time will tell...

Installed no problems here. Interesting they didn't switch to the Google Now launcher like they did on the MOTO X 2014 when that upgraded to L. Kind of afraid to install it with everything working so well.

Issue with apps optimizing on reboot for those of us who switched from dalvik to ART  appears to be resolved. Reboot was super fast.

Update on 5.1 operation:  Smooth as butter. Faster app launch and switching. Turned off Google notifications to keep Moto Active display the main app notifier on lock screen.  Turned on battery saver to kick in at 15% (not easy to find that adjustment, BTW.) Lots of other permissions, app settings, etc need to be vetted (as Lollipop gives much greater control over how apps work.) Everything working very well.  Connecting to wifi is much faster (that was a big improvement when Moto X updated to 5.0) and reliable, IMO.  I'm really happy with the update and feel that this brings the Turbo back up to flagship status (even with newly released phones) with the combo of great hardware, perfect size and now, updated OS.

Oh yeah--one more thing. There's no way to delete all open apps when you click on the lower right recent apps button on the screen. They appear in a rolodex card format and you have to swipe them away one-by-one.  The other annoying thing, it remembers all the apps even after rebooting.  So if you open a ton of apps and never go into that feature, you'll see a bunch screenshot cards of what you accessed for days, even weeks before.  Not sure how that affects RAM or storage, but you think it would have some effect.

I have noticed that when waking from Active Display, there is a 1 to 2 second lag where the normal lock screen shows before going to the home screen. Other than that, I haven't encountered any problems. Anyone else experience the lag or know how to eliminate it?

I don't seem to have that issue.
