Re: Un-Official Marshmallow (Android 6.x) News here

Spoke with VZ yesterday , the DT  is a retired device. $600, one very late update to an OS that was available  when the device was released and nothing else. Worst support I have ever seen, but they will help put me into a new device.

- Of course they are happy to take your money, but by "help" are they giving you a better device deal or just steering you toward a better supported device. After watching Samsung, I would say that is a crap shoot. Motorola use to provide timely support. I wouldn't touch a new one with a ten foot pole. Maybe for 6-9 months they treat the Z series well but that's just to get through holiday sales. LG doesn't strike any confidence. Good luck!

Did VZW give you any credit towards a new phone?  I think that the fact the Turbo is EOL without an upgrade to MM would be worth some consideration when looking for a new device.  I'm not sure the Pixel or Pixel XL on VZW will be a good fit unless I get it unlocked.  Otherwise, I'm not sure what I'd go with at the moment.  HTC 10 maybe?  Too bad becuase Moto has been good to me over the years.

Uhh, no. They just want to sell me another   phone. I am going to buy a Pixel, I will buy it directly from google. I would dump VZ if I had a better service  option here  in northern VT.

There should be some legal requirement to update phones for some specific time frame. VZ screwed us pure and simple. They have the update they just refuse  to send it. They want to sell new phones.

If I buy a Pixel XL from Google, will it work on Verizon? More importantly, I need some kind of hot spot that I currently use with Verizon to access internet for my lap top when traveling.

The "Made By Google" Twitter account told me that yes, Google store Pixels will still work on Verizon.

Yes and Verizons Verison of the Pixel from google will get timely updates and only have 3 apps that can be removed from Verizon

I was given a chance to try a Samsung S7 edge and I did and then I was able to keep the device.  So my DT sits in a drawer.  I will keep it for now its paid off,  it really has an awesome camera.  The pictures I took of Niagra Falls were so beautiful.

But yes I am done with Motorola for good. I am almost considering going to apple next year but I am not sure yet.   I have data on both sides of the fence and could go either way.

It really is a shame. We deal with Lenovo on the PC side at my work and they are wonderful from sales to support and beyond.

I'm not inclined to believe Verizon regardless of what they say. We shall see if VZW Pixel gets updates directly from Google. There have been three other Google devices (Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 7, and Nexus 6) and the track record is spotty. If I got a Pixel I'd getit from Google.

I am with you. Unfortunately when my Nexus 7 2012 went to the birds with the LP update, Samsung tablets didn't entice me. All the demo's had screen burn-in. I didn't want a Nexus 9, it was too big. So I decided to give Apple a try. It is different, but I got use to it. My biggest pain point is updates and more importantly security updates. I get them with Apple and they tent to support their hardware longer than even the Nexus devices. So I very likely will be leaving Moto and Android for a while. It's too bad, I went the Droid2 right before VZW got the iPhone. I liked it way better, but the headaches, over the years, aren't worth it anymore. I have watched OEMs botch updates, then not fix them. Some of the updates smell of planned obsolence so I have just gotten turned off in general. It's too bad. I still feel Android is superior in many ways, and yes there are options to take problems in to my own hands, but I don't want to nor do I feel I should have to.

Anyone have any interest in the upcoming V20? I left DT And moto because of lack of updates. Unfortunately I went to the Note 7.
