I doubt even Google Pixel phones will get more than 2 years of support.  Makes me wonder if it's time to switch back to Apple.

Per this: https://android.googleblog.com/2015/08/an-update-to-nexus-devices.html

Nexus devices will continue to receive major updates for at least two years and security patches for the longer of three years from initial availability or 18 months from last sale of the device via the Google Store.

I don't read that ever being better than Apple.

I just pre-ordered the Pixel XL so I can finally stop waiting for moto/lenovo to support the Turbo.  I've had moto phones for at least 6yrs now but this one will be my last.  FYI Verizon is offering $200 trade in value for the Turbo.

Best of luck to those still waiting for 6.0.

My contract is up but I will not buy another Lenovo again. That is 4 lines. Me wife and 2 children. Too bad because I liked Motorola. Been with them decades.

Verizon will give you more on trade occasionally if you buy a specific device.  That $55 sounds about right most of the time. They offered a coworker $225 for his iPhone 5C if he pre-ordered an iPhone 7 when they were announced. Now they'll just give him $45 since he didn't jump on it.

Im still debating whether or not just to buy it outright and go with Fi. I am tired of being locked in.

I'd recommend buying it directly from Google if it weren't sold out. The $55 trade in isn't worth the uncertainty of staying with Verizon.

As others have said already, the $200 trade in value was actually $50 Turbo value +$150 promotional value for buying a Pixel.

I'm not sure why buying the phone through Verzion gets so much hate but the $200 trade in value erased any possibility of me buying the Pixel directly from Google.

I think Verizon is getting hate from me by not supporting their flagship Turbo phone (one upgrade to Lollipop six months late and now obsolete. The last thing I want to do is buy a Google Pixel from them and go through the nightmare I just been through with Droid Turbo. If anyone knows if this would definately not be the case, please let me know.

General Verizon hate makes perfect sense, especially from Turbo owners, but Verizon and Google have both confirmed that the Verizon Pixel will be updated at the same time as the unlocked Pixels. From what I understand, the bootloader is locked on the Verizon Pixel (this means nothing to me) and it will have a 3-4 pre-loaded bloatware apps that can be removed.

Of course there's no way to confirm they won't screw things up until the first software updates roll out and it's definitely fair to distrust Verizon when it comes to updates.
