file manager

2014-12-31, 14:39 PM
Hi I'm coming from using a Samsung galaxy s4 that had an app called file manager where you could move around your files without having to tether to a computer. Was just curious if I'm missing it on the turbo because it is called or accessed differently. Otherwise what are my third party app options?

I'm actually not sure if there is a built in app but I've used Astro File Manager for years on all kinds of devices including the turbo.

Motorola eliminated their file manager app a while ago, probably in favor of the excellent, more fully featured free apps available in the Play store.

It stands to reason that Samsung, with their proprietary UI overlay, would still include an app like that, customized to their UI.

There are several excellent free apps to choose from.  Root Explorer does not require root, and is said by many to be the best one out there.  I use Astro, probably out of habit because I've used it for so long.  Many of these file managers connect to Drive, Dropbox, and more, so that all of your files are available to you.

Hope this helps.

I use an app called es file explorer. Its not just for local files you can
use it for so much more. And very easy to use. I can move, edit, manipulate
files on the phone, my PC, and my website with it.

I would agree that Astro has been my go to app even before the original Droid!

I use Cabinet on my Turbo and love it so much that I use it instead of the Samsung file manager app on my Note 10.1. Great Material Design interface and simple to use.

I use File Manager as well.  For what I need it works very well.

I'll toss in another vote for ES File Explorer. It is an excellent 3rd party option. I shall have to try this Astro program as well, it seems to be another popular choice.

I use Cabinet for my file manager.  I switched from Astro after I heard about it and cabinet is just a nicer looking app.  Astro felt very clunky in comparison.  Cabinet also already has material design.
