Re: Motorola ID "Authentication Problem" notification

Have you tried unlinking your Google Account under the Motorola Device ID?

"Settings -> Motorola Device ID -> (menu item) Unlink account"

I don't know if this will solve (maybe just reduce) the problem, but it could help in troubleshooting the problem.

Re: Motorola ID "Authentication Problem" notification

crystallet I'm guessing some of the Google apps aren't working because they need to know who I am and the phone cannot auth my gmail account.  I definitely cannot use the Chrome browser, but I can read email that has already been downloaded.  I haven't performed a test yet to see if new email can be fetched during the time I'm not authed.

I've used the 2-factor auth since Google introduced it, and this problem only started happening since the KitKat upgrade of my phone.  If it gets too onerous, I'll have to turn it off, but I'd rather get a fix for this issue!  smiley

And, no, it doesn't happen when in an area with good cell coverage.  Also, I have a solid wifi connection at home, so I don't think it is using wifi to send the auth.

LSS I did unlink my dev ID, and it definitely reduced the frequency of the auth error.

Re: Motorola ID "Authentication Problem" notification

Oh and other apps that do not work are games that use Google Games features.  Clash of Clans will not launch until I auth.

Re: Motorola ID "Authentication Problem" notification

Have you also disabled the "Motorola Device Policy" under Device administrators?

"Settings -> Security & Screen Lock -> Device administrators" and uncheck "Motorola Device Policy"

Wait a minute...this happens to you with a strong wifi signal?

Re: Motorola ID "Authentication Problem" notification

FYI, as the original poster of this thread, I thought it might be interesting to know that this issue hadn't reoccurred on my phone since my last post. Nothing in my environment has changed, except for app updates of course.

Re: Motorola ID "Authentication Problem" notification

Try changing location mode to "Device only".

Re: Motorola ID "Authentication Problem" notification

LSS, I made the change to location mode and auth'ed again to clear the Auth Problem.  It is stays true to form, I should know in an hour or two if that worked.

Re: Motorola ID "Authentication Problem" notification

Hope it does.  I figured at worst, it should greatly reduce the number of re-auths you need to do.
