Phone Issue.. Droid Maxx

2014-11-04, 15:38 PM
The past few days, I keep getting the unfortunately the contacts has stopped message. As well as my notifications sounds stop working. Sometimes a reboot and or clear data will resolve issue, but it just returns. Anyone else experiencing this?

I've been seeing the same thing. I've only noticed it when receiving calls. I cleared cache and restarted and hadn't seen it again until about 5 minutes ago. As I was ending a phone call I noticed it on the screen again. Doesn't seem to be causing a problem but it is annoying.

Here is a thread talking about it. It happened to me also. I had to backup my contacts and delete data on contacts, contact storage, and phone. This is all found in system/apps/all/... I also turned off all contacts syncs for anything except vzw backup assistant plus for contacts. Also cleared cache from recovery boot menu.

On my Droid Maxx Android version 4.4.4,ON 23.3.24, I have had contacts shut itself down with the error message, "Unfortunately Contacts has stopped. Ok" during the past week or so, but haven't noticed loss of notification sounds. When contacts fails, it happens repeatedly, I repeatedly (like 4 or 5 times), I press "ok" in the error message window, and eventually it works. May have lost the notification sounds, but haven't noticed.

Thanks for all replies. I did the FDR plunge. Seems to work for now. But I noticed in my Google accounts settings, I now have an option for "Push Subscriptions". This definitely wasn't there before I did the FDR.
