Re: DROID X: Issues with Exchange corporate sync discussed here

2010-08-05, 1:23 AM

I was having a horrible time getting my Droid X to work with Exchange 2010. It would let me create the account, but the folders would not download, and it would throw a generic "Connection Error". We have had HTC Evo's and several flavors of iPhones connected via ActiveSync without issues, so I figured there was nothing wrong with the Exchange server settings. Tried everything in this thread to no avail (everything from Exchange Activesync Security settings to Marketplace apps like Touchdown). Then, I found a post elsewhere regarding an iPhone having issues with ActiveSync in Exchange 2010. The fix was to go into the users Exchange User Account profile properties, go to the Security tab, click Advanced, click Edit, then click the checkbox for Inherit Parent Permissions. I did that fix, and the Droid X started downloading my mailbox folders almost instantly.

Hope this helps someone out there... and I pray you do not have any special permissions or a company filled with Droid X users, and Exchange 2010.

That's a great idea but many of us don't have access to our corporate exchange server (if I'm understanding you correctly).  We just have access to our phones.

Exchange with push is in the native email app in Android 2.2  (At least it is on the Droid1 I have. Can't imagine it will be different for the X.)  I set up my work's Exchange ('07) in less than a minute and it seemed to load up fine.  (I've been a TouchDown user since I got my Droid1 last November as the 2.0 and 2.1 Exchange functionality didn't work for me.  Since I bought it, I'll likely keep using it.)

I have been following this forum for a couple of  weeks now and I don't  see and end insight.  It is pretty simple allow  the Exchange 2003 sync  without SSL cert's.  I can now longer ask the  managers and executives  to be patient. At this point pretty much  everyone has talked to support  at least once with all kind of lame  things to try and have gotten no  where.

Unfortunately, in todays  managers meeting the decision was made  to return all of the Droid X's we  purchased.   Maybe, once it matures we'll try again -- oh, Monday is going to be fun.

Hi Marley1

Have you gone to Email settings and turned Data Push on for email? If yes,

are you relying on wifi?

I would also like the following info from you: what is your server version

(Exchange 2003? 2007? Google?), System version (from Home screen on your

device, hit Menu, then About phone)?

I turned on Push by going to Inbox of the Exchange Account, selecting Email Delivery and checking Data Push.  Originally this was turned off and I enabled this last week.  It is odd sometimes like this morning the messages come in fast like they do in outlook.  Just sent 2 emails from gmail to the phone and it came in right away.  But sometimes its a little slower, or if the phone is in my pocket I would look at it and then they would come in.  No WIFI unless I am at home.

The fluctuation in arrival times could actually be explained by varying

degrees of network coverage. Can you keep on eye on this and post again if

you see delays of more than 5 minutes when network coverage is consistently

good?

I am experiencing a similar issue. When the phone is on there is no delay. When the phone goes into standby email stops synchronizing. I have installed Touchdown and email syncs there without delay while the phone is in standby, but the droid X email app stops synchronizing until the phone is turned on again. In my case it does not appear to be a problem with network coverage.

You can fix that by changing the battery manager to performance mode.
