I was patiently waiting for the update. Got the invite way back on March 12 (I believe). I think it was rather rude of moto to send out an invite for a soak test and then not say another word about it for 5 weeks. I got sick of waiting for a stupid tiny update so I rooted and flashed CyanogenMod-7.2.0-RC0-daytona-KANG. Wow, what a difference. This was supposed to be in Beta and not a full RC but my phone has never ran so well. I won't accept another OTA unless it's ICS (and that ain't gonna happen).

You really need to get the update and see what it fixes
what a great idea.
unless it bricks your phone, like many other moto users, who took an update

The update comes with a new radio that enables the Wireless Alerting Service. The kernel is more secure (i.e. root exploits are fixed as they are considered security issues), and the browser has an RSS feed button for supported sites (this is new). Performance is improved a little, but nothing like you can get doing things yourself.
Not sure if they fixed the disappearing icons from the home screen when apps are installed on the SD card. I think they fixed it on other Blur launcher phones.
Anyway, there's still more work to do, and I'm not sure why they released a patch with such little actual content. It's more of a security upgrade for the kernel, IMO.

heh, what update?
the soak was announced over a month ago and its never arrived...
Soaks are never announced, not ever.
If you were invited to join any soak, you cannot discuss the invitation or the soak itself (before, during or after) outside of the private soak forums.
I also have heard rumors on the net about updates, and I would assume soaks as well, for a variety of Moto phones...
The key word here is "rumors"

security and Wireless Alerting Service,
I'm sure the Feds are pushing, verizon and moto to get as many phones to support the Wireless Alerting Service as the can

it's not a rumor, verizon announced the update, on their site over a month ago
the link is in the first post in this thread

Motorola put it on my phone after I sent it in for repair, so it's clearly ready. Not sure what the hold up is, but I'm not part of the soak test, so I don't know if they're having issues.

My X2 was working pretty good and now has a mind of its owm. Sometimes it does not respond and it often lags. I wouldn't mind so much if it was mostly apps but sometimes just to dial a number it becomes a tedious task. I wait and wait for it dial, pushing the dial button several times and then when it finally kicks in dials the number twice. Shutting it down seems to help but only temporarily. It wasn't perfect before the upgrade but it wasn't this bad.
