Might be a hardware problem. Most of us are still under warranty, even the some of the early adopters. I'd send it in so they can check the touchscreen and physical circuit board. My warranty was set to expire at thd end of May, but the two repairs have extended it to September now.
I mean, my touchscreen went bad a month after I bought the phone brand new. Couldn't hurt to have the hardware checked out. If you're out of warranty, ouch.
