Re: NE1032T %NLOG-5-SHELL_REBOOT: System reset from shell detected

Hello Cristian,

The first thing I would do is upgrade to the latest CNOS code. A lot has changed since 10.4 CNOS, not just the many fixes but also the CLI itself has been changed (starting in 10.7) to be much more user friendly (for example, using "show "instead of "display", and "switchport" instead of "bridgeport"). The latest release for your switch can be found using the following steps:

1) Go to “support.lenovo.com”

2) In the search window near the top, type in your model switch (in your case enter NE1032T)

3) Next to “Top downloads” click on “View All”

4) Click on the “Switch” option

5) Click on the latest code (in your case you want the 10.9.3 option (note you do NOT want the one listed with ONIE support, you want the non-ONIE version)

6) Download the files you want – the only file you need for upgrading is the one ending in .zip

To save you some time here is the direct link to the code file you want:

https://download.lenovo.com/servers/mig/2018/12/14/19663/lnvgy_fw_torsw_ne1032t-cnos-10.9.3.0_anyos_...

I have attached a quick guide for upgrading your switch (infor also found in the Application Guide) and for your version of code the instructions are on page 3 of the PDF. Important note: The Application Guide shows an example of only upgrading the OS area. You must use the “all” option during upgrading, to get ALL areas of flash, not just the OS area. When going between minor releases it is possible to upgrade just portions of the flash, but going between major releases (i.e. 10.X to 10.Y), failure to upgrade all areas can result in problems.

Let us know if you have any issues.

Thanks, Matt

Re: NE1032T %NLOG-5-SHELL_REBOOT: System reset from shell detected

Hello Cristian, that does not look like a message generated by someone reloading from the CLI, but more like a bug. One way to be certain is to run the command "display version" ("show version" in 10.7 and later) and look at the last line of output. If the switch had been reloaded by a user running the "reload" command, the last line would say:

Last Reset Reason: Reset by CLI reload command

Hope this helps..

Thanks, Matt

Re: NE1032T %NLOG-5-SHELL_REBOOT: System reset from shell detected

The service manager reset would not be a sign of someone issuing a "reload" command, but rather something going wrong in code and the switch reloading to clean up what ever went wrong. While it might be possible to dig in and gather more data to try to figure out the exact fault, the simplest answer it to upgrade to the latest release. After that either the issue will be resolved, or we will be more prepared to troubleshoot and escalate if needed.

Thanks, Matt
