Symptoms

The Mellanox Linux OFED 2.1.x device driver has the following issues with the listed adapters in Flex System servers when running the perftest performance tool: 

  1. Segmentation Faults resulting in the tool not getting started.
  2. The performance tool starts but then causes the server system to hang.

(where OFED = OpenFabrics Enterprise Distribution)

The 2.31.2820 firmware for the listed adapter products is affected.

Note: This does not imply that the network operating system will work under all combinations of hardware and software.

Solution

Update to OFED 2.3-1.0.1.3 or later.

The file is or will be available by selecting the appropriate Product Group, type of System, Product name, Product machine type, and operating system on IBM Support's Fix Central web page, at the following URL:

Workaround:
Download the latest Linux OFED performance tool from:

https://www.openfabrics.org/downloads/perftest/

The tool should be at perftest-2.0-0.80 or a later level.

Then apply the tool as followed:

  ./autogen.sh
./configure --disable-verbs_exp
make
make install

To compile and then re-test.
