In Vista, is there a way to get audio to automatically switch from onboard speakers to the advanced mini-dock's SPDIF when the laptop is docked - kind of like how sound automatically switches to headphones and back to speakers from plugging and unplugging a pair of headphones?
I have a T400 with Vista Home Basic. In the Vista sound mixer, my sound device shows as a Conexant High Definition Smartaudio 221. The driver version is 4.56.0.50.
I can get the SPDIF to work by making it the default sound device. Any apps that were on before I changed default devices will continue to play through the speakers until I restart them. I can then switch back to onboard speakers by making them the default sound device and restarting any apps again.
