Are ideapad replacement keyboads compatible with Lenovo Laptops?

2015-01-30, 8:39 AM

I'd like to purchase a replacement keyboard for my current Z50-70 Laptop, specifically one with a back light. Though the instructions for replacing the component are easy to find, it's the keyboard itself I'm having trouble sourcing.

Thus far I can only find backlit keyboards that are marked for ideapad systems, so I'd like to know if these would be compatible with my Z50-70 Lenovo Laptop. By preview image (eg this one from ebay) they're otherwise identical to my machine's layout, though for all I know, the connectors may differ or other technical reasons may prevent its use, which is why I ask here.

NB: I believe this is where I should post my question as the 'P, Y and Z' board is locked and as far as I can tell my machine is explicitly neither a thinkpad nor ideapad. If it isn't where this thread should go then I do apologise and plead being a newcomer to this forum.

Z50-70 and missing the point of Win 8.1 by sticking to desktop programs instead of apps. ;)
