Re: Connecting the Thinkvision M14 monitor to Surface Pro 6

I am trying to connect the Thinkvision M14 mobile monitor to my Surface Pro 6.  I have used the following adapters for computer to monitor connection:

  • Minidisplay port to USB-C
  • Minidisplay port to HDMI, HDMI to USB-C

I have used USB-C to USB and USB wall power adapter for the power source.

The result has been a flickering screen on the M14 monitor showing the LENOVO logo but the monitor is not recognized by the Surface Pro.  My next step is to try the Lenovo 65w USB - C power adapter to see if the problem is insufficient power.

Open to any other ideas thave have worked for other.

Re: Connecting the Thinkvision M14 monitor to Surface Pro 6

I got the same issue. On the other hand, I own a ASUS ZenScreen MB16AC and this one works direclty from it's USB-C

in to the Surface Pro 6 USB-A with no issues at all. I wonder why this M14 is not doing it while the connection is actually the same.

Tried the ASUS cable on the M14 and the monitor power on and immediately goes to Power Saving Mode. The M14 cable is also doing the same.

The MICROSOFT HVU-00005 SURFACE CONNECT TO USB-C ADAPTER TYPE-C should work, but at this moment there is no place to find one.

Hello, Have you resolved this issue? I have one coming in for my Surface Pro 6 and need to know if I need to return it. Thanks for the help!

Re:Connecting the Thinkvision M14 monitor to Surface Pro 6

The M14 requires USB-C with DP1.2 Alt Mode. If you can't get to that, it won't work. The Surface Pro 7 has such a USB-C port, and it works with the M14.

USB-C: Just cos it fits don't mean it works.
I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

Re:Connecting the Thinkvision M14 monitor to Surface Pro 6

Hi, and what about the Surface Pro 6? I've spent the last hour researching this and it doesn't seem like it's possible?

I can't find either a:

USB-A 3.0 to USB-C with Display Port adapter

                    -or-

Surface Connect to USB-C with Display Port adapter

My understanding is that one of these two would be required in order to use the M14?

Thanks

Re:Connecting the Thinkvision M14 monitor to Surface Pro 6

Try this. I have a mDP source that works well with this setup:

mini DisplayPort source -> B00HNF0KF0 -> B081VK1KHV -> Lenovo M14. Power the M14 using the other USB-C port.
