Lenovo Thinkvision p27h USB-ports not working

2018-10-28, 8:18 AM

I'm using my monitor via HDMI-cable on my PC with Windows 10. I would like to get the USB-ports on the side of the monitor to work. To do that I attached a USB-C to a USB-A cable from the monitors USB-C port to my PC's USB-port but nothing happens. Has anyone else had the same problem? PC's USB-ports work just fine with other devices but no luck with the monitor.

And just to be clear I want just the USB-ports on the monitor to work. No need for video transfer with the USB-cable.

Thank you for your help!

Re: Lenovo Thinkvision p27h USB-ports not working

I have the same issue. I have no idea if it comes from the fact that I connected the monitor to the workstation with just one HDMI cable (the diagram in the installation guide shows two HDMI cables connecting the computer to the monitor), or either I should use a DP cable. Unfortunately the only cable included in the monitor package was a USB C-C cable, which cannot be used to link workstation and monitor.

I complained rather loudly about not getting any cable to connect workstation and monitor, after having bought them together, but it turned out it's normal that here in Europe you need to order cables separately (it would have been nice if somebody told me during the ordering process though).

Anyway, I spoke to tech assistance, and the guy didn't know if it was a cable problem but offered to replace the monitor.

Given the lengthy process, I'd rather check if USB ports are working with a DP cable first. I bought one from Amazon and will receive it on friday.

Let's see...

Greetings from Italy

Actually I've solved the problem, with some help by the guy from the Lenovo shop down the street.

The USB hub on the screen only works if the monitor is also connected to the computer (other than with a DP or HDMI cable) with a USB type C cable, which was included in the package.

I just had to attach the cakec and voila the ports were all working.

It's just word that of all the technical assistance people I spoke to over the phone absolutely nobody knew about this, and all they could recommend was to replace the monitor.

I hope this can be of help

Re:Lenovo Thinkvision p44-10 USB-ports not working

Hi Guys,

although our monitors have different sizes, I guess we have just the same issue anyway. My problem is the same thing, my USB ports in front and back are not working for my USB sticks.

Although I tried my phone, it can charge, but with my USB sticks, it does not show in the screen, unless I transfer the USB in my desktop. Please advise.

And in addition, I saw comments that the LENOVO customer service agents are useless and does not know what they are doing. I totally agree with it. In fact, I called three times in the same day.

During the hours I spent talking with them, sad to say, I figured out the problems on my own. They were not able to help me because they are not familiar with the product. I just wasted my time.

Worked perfectly - I connected the monitor's USB-C port via cable to my Chromebook's USB-C hub. Thank you!
