Lenovo Wireless Keyboard / Mouse Combo -- user manual / driver ?

I have a Lenovo-branded wireles keyboard / mouse combo -- Lenovo model SK-8812, FRU P/N 41A5219.  It did not arrive with a setup disk or manual, and I want to know how to program the function keys.   I can't find the driver or user manual anywhere.  Does anyone know where I can get it ?

Re: Lenovo Wireless Keyboard / Mouse Combo -- user manual / driver ?

Hello there,

If you haven't found a suitable driver yet, I would suggest you look at:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-57923.html

(You may have to cut and paste the aforementioned URL into your browser's address window).

Regards.

Re: Lenovo Wireless Keyboard / Mouse Combo -- user manual / driver ?

Does anyone have an answer to the other part of the question, namely, how does one program the specialized keys (My Documents, Word Processor, etc)?  Some instructions would really have been handy...

Re: Lenovo Wireless Keyboard / Mouse Combo -- user manual / driver ?

Please note:

A. These instructions were executed and tested under 32-bit Windows XP Professional, with mouse driver (v5.03.8) and keyboard driver (v2.0.1.2).

B. The configuration of the "Customizable Keys" only allow for functional assignment of the following:

- Selection of Programs Available to "All Users" or "Current User"
- Open a file
- View a web page

It doesn't appear that you can directly specify other functionality, or assignment of macros.

In order to perform the installation of the drivers:

1. Download the appropriate Keyboard and Mouse driver (from URL identified above) for your Operating System (i.e. for Windows 2000/XP or Vista).

2. After the files finish downloading, install the driver setup files (by double-clicking the files which you download from the site).

3. The default folder where the driver setup files will be installed will be C:\SWTOOLS\DRIVERS.

4. Using Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\SWTOOLS\DRIVERS (or whichever other drive/folder you've specified).

5. If you've installed both keyboard and mouse drivers, you will see the following sub-folders:

Keyboard: C:\SWTOOLS\DRIVERS\KYB\q1kyb12us13\...
Mouse: C:\SWTOOLS\DRIVERS\MOUSE\q1mie08us13\...

Within each of these sub-folders, you will see appropriate Windows sub-folders.

6. Navigate to the appropriate sub-folder for your Windows Operating System (e.g. Keyboard XP default would be C:\SWTOOLS\DRIVERS\KYB\q1kyb12us13\xp\keyboard\x86).

7. There, you will find a "setup.exe" fileDouble-click this file to install.

8. You may be prompted to reboot each time after installationGo ahead and do so, and ensure that you execute the "setup.exe" for the remaining driver (i.e. if you've installed the keyboard driver, ensure that you also install the mouse driver).

9. To change the "Customizable Keys", upon reboot after installation of your keybaord drivers, you will be presented with the "USB Enhanced performance Keyboard Configuration Wizard".  You can also access this by double-clicking on the "USB Enhanced Performance Keyboard" icon on your system tray (bottom right).  Step "3 = Customize Keys" will allow you to make the necessary changes.

I hope this helps those concerned.

Re: Lenovo Wireless Keyboard / Mouse Combo -- user manual / driver ?

Actually you can assign the keys, I finally figured it out myself after lots of searching and I also had no results from Tec Support, it has only taken two years!!

Anyway, I put the disk that came with the keyboard and mouse in my computer and did not run it. I went to "my computer" and looked to see if there is a manual on it.

Go to the DRIVERS folder, XP folder, KEYBOARD folder, then click on the Readme.txt file, it will give you instructions.

I assumed because the mouse and keyboard worked I did not need to install any software, WRONG.

Good luck, I hope this helps.

I don't have the disk that came with the keyboard and mouse. Is there anyway someone could post the Readme file that I need?

Re: Lenovo Wireless Keyboard / Mouse Combo -- user manual / driver ?

Hell everyone. Let me know if the directions and the pictures help. These are normally shipped with the system. Windows should automatically find Microsoft drivers for the Keyboard and Mouse when the two are successfully paired. Thanks!

! Note:

When you replace the keyboard, please only follow the instructions for “How To Pair the Keyboard”. When you replace the mouse, please follow the instructions for “How to Pair the Mouse” and “How to Pair the Keyboard” to pair the mouse and keyboard respectively.

How To Pair the Mouse

Before pairing the mouse with the computer, please make sure the battery is inserted.

  1. Take the dongle out of the mouse battery compartment, remove the old dongle in the PC USB port, and insert the new dongle in the PC USB port.
  2. Press the right, middle and left buttons simultaneously, then switch on the mouse. The mouse will switch to pairing mode when the LED blinks slowly (around 2 times/second).
  3. Put the mouse close to the dongle (within 30 cm) for pairing.

Attention

The whole process must be completed within 30 seconds, otherwise the mouse will switch back to normal mode.

If the mouse pairs successfully, the mouse LED will blink quickly 10 times (around 5 times/second). If not, please repeat steps 1 to 3.

How To Pair the Keyboard

  1. Pull out the dongle from the PC USB port, wait, then plug it in again.
  2. Put the batteries into the battery compartment, but do not close the compartment yet.
  3. Press the F2, F3 and F4 keys simultaneously, then close the battery compartment. The keyboard will switch to pairing mode when the LED blinks slowly (around 2 times/second).
  4. Put the keyboard close to the dongle (within 30 cm) for pairing.

Attention:

The whole process must be completed within 30 seconds, otherwise the keyboard will switch back to normal mode.

If the keyboard pairs successfully, the keyboard LED will blink quicky 10 times (around 5 times/second). If not, please repeat steps 1 to 3.
