Lenovo y520 Upgrade Compatibility

I'm looking to upgrade the graphics capability on my Lenovo Legion Y520 to be suitable for a good vr setup. I'm not very tech savvy so I want to ask if anyone knows whether or not the Powercolor Gaming Station is compatible. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Lenovo y520 Upgrade Compatibility

The Y520 doens't have a Thunderbolt 3 port, so eGPUs aren't compatible.

You could get a mPCIe eGPU adapter, but I wouldn't recommend going this approach if you aren't tech-savvy.

If you're interested in trying it though, I can help you out.

And here's a few links on DIY eGPU:

1) https://www.reddit.com/r/eGPU/comments/5jpf2x/diy_egpu_101_introduction_to_egpu/

2) https://trickiknow.com/external-graphics-card-for-laptop-egpu-setup-guide/

Hope that helps.
