P32p-20 and P27p-20 Daisy Chain

2021-02-10, 23:39 PM

Hi all,

Just ordered the P32p-20 and P27p-20 monitors. My PC only has DVI and DP. I'm planning on getting the 11th gen NUC when it's available so at the moment I'm stuck with this setup. I plan on connecting the P32p to the PC using DP-DP cable and the P27p to the P32p using a USB-C to USB-C cable. Both USB-C ports support DP1.2 Alt mode so am I right in assuming this would be possible or should I switch the monitors because the P27p has DP-Out and connect it to the P32p with DP to DP cable?

Hello fadsarmy!

Greetings

I don't see any problem with that. It should work. DP 1.2 works for two displays and 4 displays for 1.4. For more information about Daisy Chain on Display port, you can check on this link: https://www.displayport.org/cables/driving-multiple-displays-from-a-single-displayport-output/

Hope that helps.

If I connect the P32p-20 to the pc @4K, can I daisy chain the P27h-20 @1440p?

Two answers:

DP1.2 supports such a configuration only if the 4K display is configured to 30Hz ( assuming 1440p  is  2560 x 1440).

Another issue here is, that the P32p-20 does not support daisy-chaining. It does not have a dedicated DP-OUT port, has it?

So you can use this monitor only as the last device in a DP daisy-chain.

Tech-Savvyness does not replace reading the fine manual.

Yes you're right. P32p has no DP out so P27h would be first but it looks like 60Hz is not possible.
