Poor USB performance on ThinkVision X1

Just got my ThinkVision X1 and started playing with it on Intel NUC6i7KYK (OS is Windows 10 Pro, most recent drivers, all updates installed).

From the manual I knew that UFHD resolution over USB Type-C cable switches USB connection over the same cable to USB 2.0 mode. But it looks like I couldn't get USB 3.0 speeds from X1's built-in hub anyway:

  • USB Type-C connection in FHD+USB 3.0 mode: device tree looks like the hub is USB 3.0 (xHCI), but bulk copying speed from fast USB stick is ~35Mb/s (the stick gives 130Mb/s when connected to NUC itself);
  • USB Type-C connection in UFHD+USB 2.0 mode: device tree looks exactly the same (why?), bulk copying speed is the same ~35Mb/s;
  • DP/HDMI video + separate USB 3.0 to USB Type-C cable: device tree looks like the hub is USB 2.0 (EHCI), Windows warns me of incompatible device or cable, bulk copying speed is the same ~35Mb/s.

All the cables are the ones supplied with ThinkVision X1.

My goal is to get X1 built-in USB hub in "DP + separate USB cable" setup working on USB 3.0 speeds.

Any suggestions on the matter?
