Re: OneLink network port flapping - SOLVED?

2014-02-06, 6:34 AM

It's nice to hear this good news.

Just want to double check if you did all Windows 8.1 system updates (includes USB 3.0 host driver update?) or just update AX88179 driver? Please advise the revision number of the workable USB 3.0 xHCI host driver and AX88179 WIn8.1 driver for our reference. Thanks a lot.

NO - just did a comprehensive check - it's now more stable, but still not solved. It's a pity...

Hello! I have the same problem. Yesterday come to work, the laptop in sleep mode. Turn it on and connect the docking station. Network periodically falls off. Without disconnecting the docking station, set here are the settings in the driver:

Reboot the laptop and everything is working well the whole day!

Today again I come to work, the laptop in sleep mode. Turn it on and connect the docking station. It works! No problem!

Try to make as well! The latest version of the driver:

Just want to make sure if you had updated all Win8.1 system files (includes the USB 3.0 host driver?) or just updated the latest AX88179 Win8.1 driver?

From my personal viewpoint based on the current information, this issue might be related to the driver supporting issue on USB 3.0 host driver vs the Onelink dock's USB 3.0 hub controller (might need to update to the latest USB 3.0 hub firmware if any) or insufficient power supply issue on the Onelink dock.

So I just want to double check if the improvement on your issue was made by the latest AX88179 Win8 driver update or by other Win8.1 system files update? Please advise if any. Thanks a lot.

Just to be clear, the OneLink PRO has different drivers than the OneLink basic!

The PRO version does NOT have the Asix drivers. So all the problems (in my humble opinion) cannot come (only) from Asix driver problems.

I offer 2 pieces of evidence that the PRO has different drivers:

1. Lenovo's README.TXT file says so.
1.1 Please read it for yourself on http://www.lenovo.com/onelinkdrivers
1.2 Also see my earlier post with details (Page 15 of this thread)

2. Confirmation email I received from Asix. Please see below

.....it seems the OneLink Pro dock has Realtek USB to LAN solution inside but not AX88179 inside. You can ask Realtek support guys to help you to isolate this issue if necessary. If you need our helps, please help to reproduce this issue on AX88179 dock first and then we can see how to help you to isolate this issue soon. Thanks a lot.

I performed a complete upgrade of Windows 8.1. ASIX driver updated automatically via the update service Windows. Separately USB3.0 host driver update I did not perform, but he could upgrade during a full upgrade system files Windows.

Fact that the problem was solved by software settings, and therefore - is not the problem of hardware.

The Windows 8.1 update might also include the USB 3.0 host driver or some others update. You can try to uninstall the latest AX88179 Win8 driver and install the original Win8.1 inbox driver to double check if this issue was related to the latest AX88179 Win8 driver upadte or not? You can also provide the driver revision of the workable AX88179 driver and USB 3.0 xHCI host driver for others' reference. It might help the others to isolate their issues and find out a good solution to improve this issue...

I tried to roll back the driver to version 1.16.10.0, also to version 1.16.9.0. It did not change anything. Network periodically fall off on any version of the driver.

The latest AX88179 Win8.1 driver that you had updated from Windows Update should be v1.16.11.0.

After doing the complete Win8.1 update, this issue was solved in your site. I suppose this issue should not be happened again even if you uninstalled the latest Ax88179 WIn8.1 driver v1.16.11.0 and then installed back the previous v1.16.10.0/v1.16.9.0.

Please help to double check it if possible. Thanks a lot for your great helps.
