Re: ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse 41U5008

Thanks again Erik! Would you mind posting a picture or two of the mouse if you have a chance? The picture on the Lenovo website is a bit lacking.

Re: ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse 41U5008

definitely.   i should be able to shoot it tomorrow.

i looked into the microsoft BT notebook mouse 5000 and discovered that it's roughly the same dimensions.   i actually feel better about its size now.   and, after a full 24 hours of using it, i am really starting to like it.   its build quality is extremely high and everything about it feels solid.   my former microsoft mouse now feels cheap and plasticy in comparison.

Re: ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse 41U5008

my apologies for the delay.   i got hit with client projects late last week and finally caught up with everything tonight.

here are a few quick snaps of the mouse:

let me know if you want/need any different angles.   i'll be on the road for a few days but can follow up later in the week.

Re: ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse 41U5008

Am I the only one that thinks that logo looks hideous just painted in the middle of the mouse?

I've ordered one of these to test but its not arrived yet, i'm not very hopeful though as generally i'm not a fan of the reliability of bluetooth computing devices - i think it would be hard pressed to be beat my Logitech VX Nano though - the scrollwheel on that was enough for me to stop being trackpoint exclusive for my pointing device and the transceiver gives reliable cable-like results but is so small you can leave it plugged in.

Re: ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse 41U5008

snife - i can agree with that.   the logo looks odd depending on how you view the mouse.   it would look better in a different location and angle for sure.

the logitech VX nano looks like a nice mouse.   i'm not sure why you'd buy another model if you already have something you like, especially if you don't think bluetooth is reliable. Smiley Indifferent

the thinkpad BT mouse has precise, "cable-like results" when it's active.   if it sits for a few seconds then it will take a nap result in a <1 sec delay in the pointer upon moving.   i'm not sure if the logitech does this but i'd be interested to hear about it.

Re: ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse 41U5008

I'm not getting it with a view to using it, only for testing purposes because I support ThinkPads.

The branding on Lenovo products is starting to get to me a little, everything doesn't need to prominently display one of the logos, keep it subtle and let the devices speak for themselves, a tiny ThinkPad logo in the middle of this one would have looked  much nicer I think.

Because the VX nano uses its own wireless interface its not reliant on any drivers or anything so when I say cable-like, I mean I dont need to pair it or anything like that - I plug it in and it just works from any OS/environment.  The last bluetooth mouse I used was a logitech MX900 and it was very flaky so I hope the Lenovo one is better.

Re: ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse 41U5008

How is the scrollwheel of this ThinkPad Bluetooth mouse, does it offer a feelable friction similar to Logitech mice?

Re: ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse 41U5008

The logo doesn't look as bad in the flesh - still too big but not as bad as it looked from the photos.

The scroll whell is one of the notched ones so similar to the Microsoft ones or from like a logitech MX519 etc, it is not frictionless like the logitech revolution/nano/G9 can be which imho is the better than any other scroll wheel

Re: ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse 41U5008

snife - what OS are you using with the TPBT mouse?   i'm having intermittent connectivity issues under vista x64 SP1 RTM on my T61p but it works perfectly under XP SP2 on my X61.

update:  the mouse seems to be working perfectly with my X300 under vista business x64 and on the X61 under XP SP2.   the issue with my T61p very well could be SP1 RTM.   i bought it for the X300 anyway so if it works with it then that's all that matters.
