Re:ThinkPad TrackPoint Keyboard II - Swap Fn and Ctrl?

I'm after a solution for this too. Since this is switch in the actual thinkpad laptops for at least half a decade it makes no sense not to have it in the external keyboard too.

Re:ThinkPad TrackPoint Keyboard II - Swap Fn and Ctrl?

Just got my keyboard and am also super disappointed about not being able to swap fn+ctrl. Thinking about returning since my keyboard shortcuts are such a crucial part of my workflow. Come on Lenovo! What were you thinking??

Same with me. I really like the keyboard, but the swapped fn and ctrl key are really annoying.

Re:ThinkPad TrackPoint Keyboard II - Swap Fn and Ctrl?

Lenovo please look into this. The keyboard is very good but the lack of option to swap Fn and Ctrl keys is a real pain point. Right now every time I get back behind my home computer with a regular keyboard I have to re-learn where the Ctrl key is and wonder what's going on when my left little finger keeps hitting the Windows key instead of Ctrl.
Please implement the Fn <--> Ctrl key swap option for the Thinkpad Compact keyboards as well!

Folks,

You can swap or otherwise remap any key using AutoHotkey: https://www.autohotkey.com/

Even easier: The new Windows 10 Powertoys has a keyboard remapping tool: https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys

Here's my problem: Pressing Fn+Ctrl+S generates a screen shot. I keep accidentally hitting that key combo and taking screen shots. This doesn't seem to be documented anywhere nor does it seem to be configurable.

Re:ThinkPad TrackPoint Keyboard II - Swap Fn and Ctrl?

I tried the Powertoys, but it didn't work. Another key remapping software such as KeyTweak(https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/keytweak/), which was recommended on AutoHotKey's wesite, also didn't work. Haven't tried Autohotkey, but it's based on script, so i don't think it can do what PowerToys' remapper couldn't do.

The reason Powertoys and other key remapping tools won't work for this issue is explained in the KeyTweak's webpage.

It reads:"Keytweak cannot affect the Fn key of most laptops. This because the Fn key itself does not generate a scancode, but rather modifies the scancode of other keys on the keyboard. The scancode modifications take place upstream of KeyTweak’s functionality."

Is it still not possible? Got the keyboard yesterday and it's awesome but the ctrl not being at the normal spot is a real dealbreaker? And if not then did you find a workaround that works?

@Darktrek: unfortunately it's still not possible. The Fn key press is handled on the keyboard and never sent to the computer, so no software on the computer can detect it to override. Lenovo offers no way to swap Fn and Ctrl keys on the wireless keyboards at this time and users have been requesting it since the first edition of the keyboards.

Re:ThinkPad TrackPoint Keyboard II - Swap Fn and Ctrl?

I have a laptop with the same  keyboard layout and I am so in love with it that I wanted exactly the same but just detached. I was thrilled when I found this keyboard and bought it immediately.

Only to get disappointed by this issue.

Is there still no way to achieve swapping the fn key and ctrl key? I would absolutely hate to return the keyboard just because of this silly problem.
