Re: ThinkPad USB-C Dock Gen 2 Plugged in but not Charging

I have the same problem, gen 7, x1 carbon, and i have to plug in the Gen 2 Thunderbolt docking station with 135W, and the included USB-C powerunit... Very sad, it should be singel cable only. My coworker has a bigger computer, the T590... Works with just the Gen 2 TB USB C docking station.

This helped me too

Re: ThinkPad USB-C Dock Gen 2 Plugged in but not Charging

Hi,

I have the same setup and same problem.

But I'm not sure if I understand the solution correctly.

In my case:

- USB-C Dock Gen 2 is connected to the mains with 135W power supply.

- X1 is connected to a Dock with a single USB C cable.

- All peripherals (keyboard, mouse, 27" monitor, network etc.) are connected to a Dock.

When I am back from a meeting I connect X1 to Dock and it doesn't always charge (but everything else works - the monitor, the keyboard and mouse). I then disconnect USB C from X1 and connect it back. And then X1 starts charging.

It's really annoying because sometimes I don't notice that X1 is not charging and it discharges midday (depending on load).

Could you please explain how you do you connect the second charger?

Do you have to plug both cables all the time to make X1 charge?

Because in my case my X1 doesn't charge just occasionally and unplugging and plugging back one single cable resumes the charge.

Maybe your accessories draw too much power from Dock? Maybe your monitor is not plugged to 110/220V and is supplied power from the Dock?

I have 2 27" Lenovo monitors with there own powerunit, using HDMI.

Keyboard, Rollermouse Red, Logitech Unify... So there is not alot of stuf connected that is draining the dock...

But what hell... We live, we learn...
