Third external monitor has max resolution of 1440x576 when connected to Thunderbolt 3 Dock Gen 2

2021-02-22, 14:03 PM

I have three external monitors connected to a Lenovo ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Dock Gen 2 via USB-C cable. The docking station is using a 135w power supply that came with it. I recently set this up and noticed that the third monitor has a max resolution of 1440x576 while the other two monitors have a max resolution of 1920x1080. Two monitors are hooked up to the docking station with DisplayPort cables while the third monitor is connected with an HDMI cable. The laptop I am using is a ThinkPad P53s with Windows 10 1909 on it. I have upgraded to the latest firmware and driver updates using the Lenovo System Update utility and Windows Updates. I have tried to update the video card but this did not resolve the issue. I have also tried rebooting the laptop, docking station, and monitors but it not resolve the issue.

Does anyone have a solution to this issue?

Is the docking station  connected to the Thunderbolt compatible USB-C port?

Please click on this link and read the 2nd and if necessary the 3rd thread pinned at the top of this board. There is a very good reason why these messages have been pinned up there.

I didn't realize there was another USB-C port on the laptop that seems to be what appeared to be within a larger port on the left side of my P53s.  I just plugged in the Thunderbolt 3 cable into that port and all three of my monitors are at max resolution. Thank you for your help.
