I am really struggling to use the USB-DVI Adaptor. I have two, to allow me to run 3 three monitors off my laptop. They work for a while, then the screen may start flashing, or I get the blue screen of death. If I disconnect the adaptors, the laptop runs sweetly with no problems.
I have tried:
Swapping the PC. First used a Z61T with 1.8 Core Solo, 3GB RAM and Intel Z25M SSD. Then swapped to X61 1.8 Core 2 Duo, with 2GB RAM and 7200rpm HDD. The issue is exactly the same on both PCs, the system works for a while then random different things trigger either the screen flashing and the mouse cursor flicking back to the centre of the screen (So I can't turn it off) or a total BSD. The trigger to this could be launching the webcam to opening a IE window. Totally random.
I have tried upgrading the DisplayLink drivers to the latest version (5.3) - the problem persists.
I suspect that the adaptors 'drain' system resources too much, but I cannot prove this, as it works fine until it fails, then it is impossible to do anything to prove the issue. However the advert on Lenovo maintains one can run 6 of these adaptors, so I am not sure.
I have almost given up and moved to a desktop (E20) but I would really like these adaptors to work as they are advertised.

It seems this is a known problem - currently with no fix.... How annoying.....

Created Nov 23 2009, and still not fixed. According to the Lenovo website - one can run up to 6 of these. Unless you are on XP, and then it is only 1 due to this problem.
Displaylink gurus - any chance of a fix?
