Ultra Dock USB 3.0 No ethernet or audio since 27 June 2016 (coincides with latest driver update?)

2016-06-28, 12:23 PM

Since about 10 hours ago, I am getting no ethernet or audio feed from my Ultra Dock. Data is coming into the Dock but nothing is coming out. Ethernet cable plugged into my Thinkpad works fine. Device Manager shows no drivers for either Lenovo Audio and Lenovo Giga Ethernet. I have unstalled v17970 and reinstalled (with reboots in between) and also latest firmware but still no ethernet.

My question is - has the latgest update (which is aimed solely at display issues) removed these drivers by accident?

Is there anyone else out there experiencing this? Maybe someone could direct me to the location of the specific drivers.

Issue solved. Download Driver Easy and scan and find missing driver for Lenovo Giga Ethernet, download driver and install the driver manually via Device Manager -> Other device -> Unknown device -> Install Driver, browse to the download driver folder.

Hi, welcome to the forum.

Which Thinkpad model are you using and Windows version are you running?

Here it is the support site for the Thinkpad Ultra Port USB 3.0 just in case.

I don't have that dock, but according the readme of the v17970 drivers, it seems to be more focused on the Display drivers, so I guess that it does not affect Ethernet or Audio.

I think it can be usefull to see the drivers that Windows recognize for Ethernet and Audio and can also be good to take note of the HardwareID of each. Maybe you can post some screenshots of how Windows Device Manager sees the dock's ethernet and dock's audio.

Also if you are familiar with device driver install/uninstall sometimes EasyDriver (not officially supported by Lenovo) does a decent job to recognize the device and found some drivers (free version is slow but allows you to download the driver), but I have never tried this software for dock drivers, I guess it will work the same way.

I hope this can give you some hints.

Regards

Hola Martin

Thanks for your response. To answer your questions my Thinkpad is an e560 (20EVCTO1WW) with Win10. I have attached a screenshot of Device Manager, showing the Lenovo Audio Manager and Giga Ethernet devices with no drivers loaded (these disappear when I remove the dock).

Device ID's are:

Audio

 USB\VID_17E9&PID_4340&REV_0101&MI_02

USB\VID_17E9&PID_4340&MI_02

Giga Ethernet

USB\VID_17E9&PID_4340&REV_0101&MI_05

USB\VID_17E9&PID_4340&MI_05

Both devices show Code 28 no compatible drivers. Having already uninstalled and reinstalled the dock driver as per Lenovo's directions, I hesitate to try again. I will give support a call tomorrow.

Cheers

I have the same issue for ethernet connection but audio is OK.  I have Surface Book running windows 10 and USB 3.0 Ultra Dock, installed Display Driver 1.797.0 and Firmware Version 5041.   If I plugged the ethernet cable into the ethernet adapter come with surface book whick plug in the USB 3.0 port in Ultra Dock, it connect to network, if I plug the ethernet cable into the ethernet port in Ultra Dock, no network connection.  In Device manager (see attached screenshot), in Other devices, it show Unknown device.  Do I miss any drivers?

Appreciate for any help,

Kam

Driver easy didn't work for me.  Didn't pick up the ethernet issue, when I tried downloading the audio driver it kept failing.

That worked for me.  Such an obvious solution, uninstall device, remove, restart, reconnect, reinstall..  Everything working again!
