Ultrabase X6 - Questions regarding 2nd HDD

2009-03-10, 21:44 PM

Hi,

I plan to buy the 2nd HDD adapter (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-61255)

My questions:

1.) Do I need a special "cage" for the 2.5 HDD? I remember it was needed with older 2nd HDD adapters (like for my T40)...

2.) Will I be able to boot from there?

3.) Can I use any 2.5 SATA disk here? I looked up Western Digital Scorpio to be a good drive?

4.) Does the interface speed need to be 3 Gb/s or 1.5 Gb/s?

Thanks for your views on that...

2) yes you can when you set the boot order in your BIOS

3) you can use any 2.5 SATA disk of 9.5 mm in thickness, but your adapter final interface is Enhanced IDE

4) wouldn't matter your caddy's final connection to the laptop is through E-IDE which is far below the maximum 1.5 Gb/s of a SATA 1.5 mode.
