Yoga 910 dock stations compatibility

Hello!

I recently bought the Yoga 910 laptop, with (unfortunately) the OneLink dock station, which isn't colmpatible even though it was recommended as an accessory on the page of the laptop at the time...

Anyway, I am looking for a dockstation to plug my external hdd and screen to the Yoga 910, and I would like to know if the ThinkPad Ultra USB 3.0 works with the Yoga 910. I've already downloaded the accessory compatibility matrix and it says that the Yoga 900 is compatible, but the 910 isn't, which kinda doesn't make sense.

And just to be sure, is there any way of connecting the OneLink dock station to the Yoga 910?

Still I don't want to throw anymore money in the wind, if any of you could help, I'd be thankful.

Re: Yoga 910 dock stations compatibility

Hi

I can not give you assurance that the "ThinkPad Ultra USB 3.0" will work on the "Yoga 910".

Since this is a USB 3.0 dock the common sense says it will work with a Window 10 machine with USB 3.0.

https://support.lenovo.com/ec/es/documents/acc100183

This dock has a "DisplayLink" chipset inside for the Video/Ethernet/Audio functions, and the rest is a USB 3.0 hub. So, I think it may work but I can not be 100% sure since I don't have that devices.

Regards

Re: Yoga 910 dock stations compatibility

Thank you Martin, and sorry for the late reply.

I had the same assumptions as you did, but I prefer not to invest without being sure!

I repaired a small media PC to use it on my TV for now.

Thanks again

Best

Re: Yoga 910 dock stations compatibility

Hi Charles,

I'm also looking for one and I've found this:

https://www.owcdigital.com/products/usb-c-dock/index.html

It should work fine, but I'm not sure that it will charge the laptop either.

Anyone has test it with the Yoga 910?

Regards,

David

Re: Yoga 910 dock stations compatibility

[ Edited ]

Hello,

I have the same question about right dock for Yoga 910.

Curently im using Lenovo Thinkpad Basic USB 3.0 Dock. It works, but there are issues with displaying on monitor:

- some programs are displayed not sharp (Microsoft office)

- Some programs are displaye with extremly big fonts (Adobe Reader)

- Chrome is displayed with a little bit of cut top side

- There is some lag with cursor movement and typing

Monitor is HP ZR 22 w, conected with DVI-DVI or DVI-VGA cable (there is no significant difference between them), as dock has only DVI input.

edit: my laptop dislay is 4k and monitor is HD.

Can somebody help with this issue?

Thanks!

br,

Igor

Re: Yoga 910 dock stations compatibility

Hi Bicri

Welcome to the forum.

Just in case this is the support site for the ThinkPad Basic USB 3.0 Dock.

https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/pd028106

First I will suggest to install the latest Lenovo driver to see if it improved.

- ThinkPad Basic USB 3.0 Dock driver (34.6 MB) / 8.0.923.0   /  17 Nov 2016

Second, this dock has DisplayLink technology (chipset) inside, my second try will be to update the drivers from the manufacturer.

http://www.displaylink.com/downloads/windows

About Adobe Acrobat DC, it has a function for "tablet mode" or "touch mode" that can be annoying for a PC, just in case check that out, turn it off to see if it improves.

If you are using Windows 10, check that you are using the latest updates (version 1607) . I remember that I used to have some issues with bad fonts on the initial versions.

I hope this helps you.

Regards

Re: Yoga 910 dock stations compatibility

Martin,

Thanks a lot for reply!

I tried your suggestion, but unfortunatly it only solves a part of problem. When installing new driver for Displaylink, the lag on monitor went away (almost compleatly, compared to laptop monitor). I also solved the displaing of Adobe Readed with you suggestion - is it not perfect but it wil do.

The main problem now remaining is displaying of Microsoft Office programs. When working on two monitors, the dislplaying of Office progs. on laptop is ok but on external monitor the fonts are blurred (only on Office progs, all other are ok). If i do "sing out now" in display settings, all goes to perfect on external monitor, but then, the displaying of Office progs. (and only Office programs) gets blurry on laptop monitor (!?). Thats really strange.

What could be the problem?

Thanks a lot!

Br,

Bicri

Re: Yoga 910 dock stations compatibility

I used the following device successfully.

Plugable USB-C Triple Display Docking Station with Charging Support/Power Delivery for Specific Windows USB-C & Thunderbolt 3 Systems

i have connected two 27" high resolution displays to 910 and audio, USB devices.
