ThinkPad TrackPoint Keyboard II - Keyboard feet replacement

2020-12-29, 1:23 AM
I just had the same problem with the left foot. It's a joke. That keyboard was overpriced but because of the ThinkPad repute I bought it. Seriously?! I've glued that...

ThinkPad TrackPoint Keyboard II - Keyboard feet replacement

2021-01-05, 19:43 PM
This is a widespread issue with a huge number of similar complaints on this forum and across the web. Customer service sends people on an endless loop between technical support and sales. Serial number isn't recognized by the system so users cannot manage online or make a warranty claim. There have been promises made by Lenovo months ago about new replacement parts - but nothing yet. Guessing that the company has decided to simply ignore the issue and hope it goes away.

If you are within the one-month return period, the only path to resolution is to just return the keyboard. Alternatively, what worked for me was ordering a new keyboard and returning it immediately with the broken feet of the first keyboard. YMMV.

We  have had Lenovo send us rthree new Trackpoint II keyboards over a period of 5 months! The issue poor battery life using Bluetooth.  The best we can get is around 13 - 15 hours then needs recharging. Using 2.5 Gg, lasts forever but we have to use Bluetooth. Anyone else having this problem.  Lenovo is now passing me from department to department each one saying we don't handle them!?????

Go to keyboard forum. There is a thread discussing this keyboard.

I had this exact keyboard before. I never had battery problem. In fact, you are the first one complaining about battery life I ever heard. The problem of this keyboard is plastic legs, almost 100%. Regular phone or MTSA won't service keyboard. You have to return and replace.

It's not the battery that has the problem it is Bluetooth which on the three keyboards we have here have an active life of up to about 15 hours on Bluetooth and normal 60 days using 5.2 Gig Dongle. We have several of the USB keyboards with no leg problems and the three Trackpoint II keyboards have no leg problems. I wonder if these problems are showing up from different distribution points, possibly pointing to different suppliers to Lenovo.

Your description suggesting the battery has not been charged.  Well, this keyboard may not have real usb-c host controller to save a buck. If the charger is PD or QC capable then it may not be able to deliver any power. So try to charge with old 5V usb charger see if the problem solved.

Many devices have USB-C charge port, but this is just a 2 pin 5v socket, not a real usb-c socket.
