Question

Is there an application that can be installed on an image which allows an administrator to lock down the BIOS on the Thinkpad x140e without having to do it manually on every machine? The lock down will prevent the user from booting from other devices or making any other changes in the BIOS.

Answer

No, the password will need to be set manually. There are scripts and accompanying documentation for configuring the BIOS through WMI available at http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht100612.

However, it is not possible to set a BIOS password with scripts. You can change or clear the password if one is set already, but you can't create a new one. (Note: If you set the BIOS password before you make the other changes, the script will need to know the password you used.)
