They are finally here. The ThinkPad Driver Packs for SCCM are self-extracting executables containing the hardware device drivers in a format where they can be imported into SCCM and used in an Operating System Deployment task sequence.
We will begin to see these driver packs listed on the "Download Drivers and Software" page under a new Enterprise Management catageory.
For now the following direct download links are active:
(( WARNING: These executables are LARGE files ))

This is great news! Great to see Lenovo finally getting these rolled out. The SCCM community (www.myITforum.com) thanks you. This has long been a source of issue for System Center customers.
What is the timeframe to make all models' driver packs available?

Correct. The Driver Import Wizard of SCCM or MDT should be used to do the actual import into the console. Although this is an additional one time step per driver pack, it allows for the broadest support for the various ways users manage drivers in their console. Personally, I like to use the MDT integration and creates lots of folders to organize the drivers. Then I can easily create selection profiles for the driver injection task and for my deployment media to completely tailor an OSD. Others might want to manage drivers differently.
How do you plan on using these driver packs? What would you like to see provided with regards to integrating directly into SCCM?

One of those Lenovo boys was probably me!
The Lenovo Updates Catalog is in the works. We hit a snag with processing the mountain of new content for our latest product releases. We hope to be back on track in early August. There will likely be a post in this forum to announce it.

I too get very specific in my driver structure but I was hoping to not continue that in OSD. We are still getting some other items worked out and for now we are simply focusing on Ethernet and SATA drivers as needed. Once we get the majority of OSD working the way we want we planned on using a task in OSD to run system update and pull the latest drivers from a update retriever package we are looking to make in ConfigMgr and then tie it in with a dynamic GPO so that systems will always be pulling updates from a local share. Simple and streamlined, hopefully.

ThinkCentre and ThinkStation is being worked. We have to ensure the hardware content available for these brands support the INF install capability needed for SCCM. I'm hoping at least before the end of the year.
I agree this has been a long time in coming. This is just the beginning so there will also probably need to be improvements made along the way. When things change, we will try to post information in this forum.
