Symptom

Post deployment, device manager has a yellow bang for an Unknown Device with a PNPID of ACPI\PANE0001\1.

 

Diagnosis

Task Sequence step to target the PNPID to apply the Application/Package to the system during deployment.

 

Solution

Download Intel Panel Driver.

Extract to a local resource or a network share for importing into an image deployment tool.

 

Configuration Manager:

    1. Create a Package for Intel Panel Driver

        A. Navigate to Software Library \ Overview \ Application Management \ Packages.

        B. Right click on the Packages node and select Create Package.

        C. On the Package page of the wizard, fill in the following:
            - Name: Panel Driver
            - Manufacturer: Intel
            - Version: 1.0.0.5
            - This package contains source files: Checked
            - Click Browse.  Choose Network location if the folder containing the files is on a network share.

               Choose local folder on site server if the folder containing the files is a local drive on the site server.  

               Fill in the location where the source files folder is located.
            - Click Next.

        D. On the Program Type page, choose Do not create a program and click Next.

        E. On the Summary page, click Next.

        F. On the Completion page, click Finish.

   2. Add a new Task to the Task Sequence

        A. Navigate to Software Library \ Overview \ Operating Systems \ Task Sequences.  

             Edit the relevant Windows 10 x64 task sequence.

        B. In the Windows 10 x64 task sequence, navigate to the section where the X1 Yoga 2nd or X1 Yoga hardware

             applications are applied and insert a new Run Command Line task by clicking Add \ General \ Run

             Command Line.

        C. In the name field, enter Intel Panel Driver 1.0.0.5.

        D. On the Properties tab, the Command line will read: pnputil /add-driver .\*.inf

        E. Check the Package checkbox.  Click the Browse button and select the Intel Panel Driver 1.0.0.5 package

             created from step 1.

    3. Target the Intel Panel Driver 1.0.0.5 Task to the PNPID

        A. On the Intel Panel Driver 1.0.0.5 task, click on the Options tab.

        B. Click Add Condition and choose Query WMI from the list.

        C. In the WMI Query Properties window, ensure the WMI Namespace is set to ROOT\CIMv2.

        E. Set the WQL Query to SELECT * FROM Win32_PNPEntity WHERE PNPDeviceID LIKE '%PANE0001%'

        F. Click OK to close the WMI Query Properties window.

        G. Click OK to close the task sequence.

 

Microsoft Deployment Toolkit:

    1. Create an Application for Intel Panel Driver.

        A. Navigate down the MDT tree to Deployment Shares \ <Your Deployment Share Name Here> \ Applications

        B. Right click on Applications and choose New Application

        C. On the Application Type page, choose Application with source files and click Next.

        D. On the Details page, fill in the following:

            - Publisher: Intel
            - Application Name: Panel Driver
            - Version: 1.0.0.5
            - Click Next

        E. On the Source page, set the Source directory: <Source file location>

             ex. \\Server\Share\FolderLocationOfInfFile and click Next.

        F: On the Destination page, specify the name of the directory that should be created:

             Intel Panel Driver 1.0.0.5 and click Next.

        G. On the Command Details page, set the Command line: pnputil /add-driver *.inf and click Next.

        H. On the Summary page, review and click Next.

         I. On the Confirmation page, and click Finish.

    2. Add a new Task to the Task Sequence

        A. Navigate down the MDT tree to Deployment Shares \ <Your Deployment Share Name Here> \ Task

             Sequences. Open the relevant Windows 10 task sequence.

        B. In the Windows 10 x64 Task Sequence, navigate to the section where the X1 Yoga 2nd or X1 Yoga Hardware

             applications are applied and insert a new Install Application Task by clicking Add \ General \ Install

             Application.

        C. In the name field, enter Intel Panel Driver 1.0.0.5.

        D. On the Properties tab, select Install a single application.

        E. Click the Browse button and navigate the Application tree and select the Intel Panel Driver

             1.0.0.5 application.

    3. Target the Intel Panel Driver 1.0.0.5 Task to the PNPID

        A. On the Intel Panel Driver 1.0.0.5 task, click on the Options tab.

        B. Click Add and choose Query WMI from the list.

        C. In the Task Sequence WMI Condition window, ensure the WMI Namespace is set to ROOT\CIMv2

        D. Set the WQL Query to SELECT * FROM Win32_PNPEntity WHERE PNPDeviceID LIKE '%PANE0001%'

        E. Click OK to close the Task Sequence WMI Condition window.

        F. Click OK to close the task sequence.
