Kris022,

I am unsure if they are going to release this as a drivers only package, but here is the link to the installer.  This can be added to a task sequence as an installed application.

Lawson, Than you for the reply. I have tried the link by adding it during the task sequence

However, the driver installation doesnt succeed. So the system doesnt join to the domain during the task sequence.

Attached the screenshot.

Any pointers are appreciated.

Kris022,

It appears that the silent install command for this package is:

tp_usbc_dock.exe /SP- /VERYSILENT /SUPPRESSMSGBOXES /NORESTART

Try that as your command in the application.  Once that is installed the Unknown Devices will go away.

HTH,

I have still the same issue.
We use USB C-Doc and the doc mentions about Thunderbolt https://download.lenovo.com/cdrt/recipes/tp_x1carbon5th-skl_w764.pdf . Could we use Thunderbolt doc drivers for USB-C dock drivers.

If you are indeed deploying the X1 Carbon 5th 20K3 or 20K4, you do need the Thunderbolt driver for the laptop ports to operate. That's what is indicated in the recipe card. And I deployed it using "setup.bat".

In addition to the driver above, you need the USB-C Dock driver to be installed after that step.

Try that and let us know.

Thanks Rechols. I tried the below options but no luck.

In all the steps, reimaging goes till installation of USB C dock drivers. however the driver installation fails (log files changes MP to http://sccm01.lab.com which is not our MP. I suspect that the installation is not able to retrieve the the dock driver (ethernet) and fails)

Tried the following options for USB-C Dock drivers and Firmware also (by creating program, running as command prompt)

USB-C Dock
1- Installed tp_usbc_dock.exe /verysilent /noreboot
2. Extracted tb_usbc_dock.exe -> and Install only Install_USB_AllInOne_KeepNewDriver_10013_8034_7027.sfx.exe
3. Extracted tb_usbc_dock.exe -> and install only FLUSB3.0-3.8.1.0-DoNotCheckHost.exe
4. Extracted FLUSB3.0-3.8.1.0-DoNotCheckHost.exe and installed using Silent_Install.bat

Firmware
1. Installed thinkpad_usb_c_dock_firmware_v2.exe using /s switch

Also, tried installing thunderbolt drivers before installation of USB C Dock drivers. (In this case even thunderbolt drivers shows as unknown device after the imaging failed) http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds120383 with the following options.

1. Thunderbolt Pxe drivers to boot image.
2. Thunderbolt Pxe drivers as a driver package.

Are you deploying with MDT or SCCM? Can you specify the exact error you are receiving and maybe supply a log file. If you don't have time to redact sensitive info - attach it to a private message to me , otherwise attach the relevant logs to your reply to this post.

Also, we don't recommend deploying the dock firmware during OSD.

I deploy through SCCM.

Attached the error and log files when running the task sequence with only USB-C Doc drivers (no firmware) using command line tp_usbc_dock.exe /verysilent /norestart
