Symptom

In BIOS, when the Security > Intel(R) SGX > Intel (R) SGX Control setting is set to Software Controlled or Enabled, a unknown device will be found in device manager with the PNP ID of INT0E0C.  Post deployment of Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (Redstone 3 or 1709), the Windows 10 inbox driver for Intel Software Guard Extension identifies as version 1.6.80.31049.  The error message for the driver is

"The driver for this device has been blocked from starting because it is known to have problems with Windows.  Contact the hardware vendor for a new driver. (Code 48)"

Diagnosis

Add Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (Redstone 3 or 1709) appropriate driver to the driver pack to inject.

Resolution

Navigate to https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=INT0e0c and download version 1.8.105.38781 for Windows 10 Creators Update and Later Servicing Drivers.  Extract the downloaded .cab file and import the driver files into the OS deployment tool in the model specific driver grouping.

The simpler solution is to navigate to Device Manager and update the driver of the Software Guard Extension device from it's driver properties tab. Use the search automatically option. It updates the same driver version and is less prone to error.

Chris88,

Thanks for the input.  We have clients who deploy systems on closed networks with no access to the internet.  At the time of deployment, they need to have no yellow bangs or errors in device manager.  The solution listed above is very useful for them to have something inplace at time of deployment.  Once the devices are fully deployed and issued to the endusers, you are correct, the automatic update feature will pull in the latest driver.
