Re:rtump64x64.sys bluescreen on X1 Yoga Gen 4 attached to ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Dock - Type 40AC

Hello,

I would like to know if there is any update on this problem. We haven't heard anything in a week now ? Neither from Lenovo or Realtek.

Thanks

Lenovo provided me with a beta 10.45 driver from Realtek, but so far it is just as unstable as 10.44. I believe this is the same 10.45 driver that others have mentioned in this forum as still being unstable and causing BSOD. I've provided Lenovo and Realtek with a full MEMORY.DMP file. Hopefully they can release a stable driver soon.

We have been using the 10.45 driver on a half dozen machines for a few weeks since it was shared with no BSOD in that time. One thing I have noticed is the driver needs to be updated per dock / dongle. If your users use more than one make sure the driver is updated for all scenarios. Until the driver becomes the default you can get the 10.43/44 from Windows Update or other locations.

Re:rtump64x64.sys bluescreen on X1 Yoga Gen 4 attached to ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Dock - Type 40AC

Same for me. I've got the ThinkPad Dock Gen 2 (Type 40AS). I was contacted by a Lenovo Engineer today and he gave me a new "Lenovo Ethernet USB" 10.45.308.2021 driver to install. I'm fairly sure it was the same Realtek driver I'd previously tested that I'd downloaded straight from Realtek - that one was originally called 10.45.20.308.

I'm testing with a T15 laptop and what I'm seeing is lots of "micro-disconnects". The new drivers seem to recover very fast now - usually within 0.5 secs. But you will still get on average one every 1 to 2 minutes. But sometimes you'll see 3 within 30 seconds. So if you don't mind loosing one word out of your conversation every now and then, then they are fine. Not something I care to roll out across my company and then have to answer for it!

I recognize these disconnect events with both the performance tab of the Task manager showing the Ethernet port disappearing and a banner at the top of MS Teams reporting that the app is now in "offline mode". Also, if you continuously wave your hand in a video call you can see the small freezes when the the data gap works past the buffering.

I actually seem to see these disconnects more often from internet browsing news websites with lots of video feeds, opening multiples across various tabs, and then scrolling around on those pages, than I do from video conference calls.

For what ever reason, perhaps due to testing with a T15 laptop, I've never seen the BSOD's that others have reported. Even back on the 10.44.xx drivers it would just take down the network port on the Gen 2 doc until the dock was power cycled.

Two BSOD in 30 hours.   I have attached image of BSOD and Event Viewer.

Dock =  ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 dock Gen2 / Workstation dock Firmware Update Tool - 10 [64] - 3.1.67

Laptop = ThinkPad X1 Extreme 2nd Gen

Yes, the 10.45.308.2021 is the same as 10.45.20.308 and it is still causing blue screens and drops on video calls such as Teams and Zoom. We are using the Thunderbolt 3 dock gen2. 40AN

There is a newer dock firmware that resolves some issues with the ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Dock and Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 Workstation Dock. The link is here - https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds505188-firmware-for-windows-10-64-bit-thinkpad-thunderbolt-3-workstation-dockthinkpad-thunderbolt-3-dock-gen-2thinkpad-thunderbolt-3-workstation-dock-gen-2. This does not resolve the blue screens and drops. It will resolve certain charging and audio issues. The firmware version is 3.1.68

Ya we tried that also, same results.

I have 40 ish laptops right now that we cannot connect to a docking station (Laptops E15, Docking 40AN)

Very frustrating it's taking that long to resolve that issue.

We tried the new drivers / firmware for the docks and we are still getting BSOD.

Re:rtump64x64.sys bluescreen on X1 Yoga Gen 4 attached to ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Dock - Type 40AC

Quick Update: I've got a number of posts above if you are interested in my setup and what I've been testing.

Yesterday afternoon I ran the Lenovo System Updater on my T15 laptop (I've got the app's scheduler feature turned off, so it only runs when I manually start it now) and it found a new Flash update 1.0.8 for my Dock Gen 2 (40AS). The Lenovo Engr I'd been in contact with never mentioned it. So I installed it and the 20 to 40 "micro" disconnects per hour I'd been getting have stopped. I even ran a two person MS Teams call for over 30 minutes and didn't see a single disconnect. I still need to test more, but so far I'm hopeful this may be the actual fix I've been waiting months for.
