We are currently testing the following change with promising results more than 24 hours in.

  • Close any open network applications. The following will reset the adapter when you click OK.
  • Device Manager - Network adapters - Lenovo USB Ethernet - Advanced - *Priority & VLAN - set value to "Priority & VLAN Disabled".
  • Click OK

We are rolling this change out to a few more machines this morning. I will post back if it fails.

*Edit: I am not clear on what this setting actually does. We do use VLANs and everything still works.

I have rolled this setting change out to about 20 machines this week. We have not had a reoccurrence of our "micro-disconnect" issue.  While it is not a proper fix, it is a suitable workaround for us. I will continue to monitor this thread and Lenovo's site for any further updates. Again, I cannot take credit for the find. DRomano over in the Spiceworks Community Forum suggested it. FYI, while the affected systems and reported symptoms are different, I believe the SpiceWorks forum and this Lenovo forum are tracking the same underlying issue...The Realtek Ethernet chipset.https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/2274486-microsoft-teams-call-drops-ethernet-while-connected-to-surface-dock?page=6#entry-9172218

I'm thoroughly disappointed with Lenovo support, their solution is for us to flatten every machine we have it on and blame dock compatibility for a few of the machines, thanks to the community for finding a workaround. Even when we point them to threads like this I feel like we are talking to someone who clearly isn't listening and following their script.

Anyone else having this issue alot more lately? For most people it worked after the 10.45 driver update, but now we get BSOD on 20 Thinkpads most days.

10.45 is not a solution.

Try the "Priority & VLAN Disabled" its the only working solution until now.

Thanks! I misunderstood. I thought that only was a fix for people having the micro-disconnect issue. I will test :)

Been awhile since I've updated here. Two quick things. The VLAN & Priority setting change only seems to work on one of our T15's for about 8 hours. So I suspect it has something to do with how it re-initializes the driver rather than the setting change itself. But if it does more on other models of Lenovo laptops that's great.

The other big news is that I received an email from a Lenovo Engineer saying that they now have a solution (yeah, we've heard that one before) and that it will be released onto the Lenovo support website and through Lenovo Vantage by the end of this week (06/18/2021)

So we'll see.

We have been dealing with this for months. I am so excited to hear that a fix is eminent! If you get a link from the engineer can you please include it in this thread? Thank you for posting this.

We have waited patiently for this solution. Lenovo please provide a link to the location of the solution that was supposed to be published to the support site by the end of last week (6/18/21).
