Re:rtump64x64.sys bluescreen on X1 Yoga Gen 4 attached to ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Dock - Type 40AC

2021-01-24, 10:38 AM

I've had a couple BSODs recently, and the most recent was rtump64x64. Using 40AC Thunderbolt dock. I use a 2.5g USB NIC with it so I disabled the built in ethernet on the dock after seeing it blamed on the dock ethernet drivers. Maybe eventually i'll figure out the driver issue on it but for now disabling it is fine with me.

I have been experiencing the same thing as others.  BSOD  Yoga c940   with a Thunderbolt 3 Gen 2 Dock.  When I disconnect the ethernet everything is stable.  I even tried plugging a usbc ethernet into the dock and within 15 minutes had a BSOD.  I have updated the firmware and I tried rolling back the driver for the ethernet and that didn't resolve it.

I am glad to have found this forum and see that Lenovo appears to be active in this conversation.

I have a customer with a Thinkpad P15s Gen 1 Type 20T4 that is having this same issue and nothing we have tried so far has fixed it.

Would it be possible for anyone getting these BSODs with the rtump64x64.sys driver to send us their crash dump?

I'd be happy to upload my dump files, but the Lenovo site isn't allowing me to attach them as files.

Here's what I have from BlueScreenView.

Re:rtump64x64.sys bluescreen on X1 Yoga Gen 4 attached to ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Dock - Type 40AC

Hey all,

I have been working this in the background attempting to reproduce the issue.  I have an X1C8 (same drivers as an X1Y5) and I have updated to the driver that has given you all issues.  Can you confirm what AV you are running or VPN software being run?  So far, I have not been able to reproduce, so I am looking for other factors that could contribute.

Thanks

TLawson

Re:rtump64x64.sys bluescreen on X1 Yoga Gen 4 attached to ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Dock - Type 40AC

We use Panda AV. We use WatchGuard SSL VPN, but I do not use the VPN while at the office which is where my Gen2 USB-C dock is located. The crashes only occur during video calls in Microsoft Teams. Another issue that we have seen with these docks is that the USB Ethernet device will drop during video calls. This seems to be the same device/driver that is causing my laptop to crash and blue screen. These issues have been extremely problematic for several of our clients.

Please let me know what additional info I can provide to help resolve these issues once and for all.

Thank you,

Tyler
